Patent number: 9378671Abstract: A large scale LED display has a number of display panels each having a cable and spacer support structure for a number of LED modules. Adjacent display panels are connected together by a number of seam links that snap onto one cable of one of the display panels and one cable of the adjacent display panel. The cables may include a number of seam link engagement members spaced along the length of the cable and onto which the seam links snap wherein each of the seam link engagement members locates an LED module on the support structure. The LED modules include top and bottom housing sections that snap together, wherein one of the housing sections includes a seat for an electrical connector. The seat locates the connector and a printed circuit assembly within the LED module.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2014Date of Patent: June 28, 2016Assignee: ADTI Media LLCInventors: Daniel S. Kline, Matthew W. Shankle, David F. Cox, James C. Lee, Sam R. Sarcia

Patent number: 9135838Abstract: A large scale LED display has a cable and rigid link support structure for a number of LED modules. The cable and rigid link support structure is flexible but has sufficient structural integrity to prevent misalignment of the pixel modules. The LED modules are removable from the support structure individually and as a group so as to facilitate repair of the display. The LED modules are rugged so as to withstand harsh outdoor conditions and they provide sufficient luminescence for use in sunlight.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2011Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignee: ADTI MEDIA, LLCInventors: Daniel S. Kline, Matthew W. Shankle, David F. Cox, James C. Lee, Sam R. Sarcia

Patent number: 6195016Abstract: A fiber optic display sign has an optical system with enhanced light efficiency so that the display system is suitable for outdoor use. A number of fiber optics have light receiving ends arranged in a compact bundle for receiving an image from an image generator, the fiber optics coupling the image to the output ends thereof for display. An array of lenses is positioned adjacent the output ends of the fiber optics for directing or aiming the light from the fiber optics to control the viewing angle of the image displayed. The array of lenses may be fixed with respect to the output ends of the fiber optics or the lens array may be movable with respect thereto so as to vary the viewing angle. The image generator employs a light source formed of a densely packed array of white light emitting diodes to provide enhanced brightness.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1999Date of Patent: February 27, 2001Assignee: Advance Display Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Matthew W.
