  • Publication number: 20240115417
Abstract: A method for providing thermal contrast therapy to a vehicle occupant. The method comprises first operating a heating device to apply a first temperature for a first period of time and second operating the heating device and a cooling device in an alternating manner for a plurality of time intervals. The thermal contrast therapy achieves about a 10° C. to 20° C. change in a temperature of a surface of a seat and/or about a 3° C. to 6° C. change in a skin temperature of the vehicle occupant.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 30, 2022
    Publication date: April 11, 2024
Inventors: Nicola Gerrett, Emily Washington, Nathaniel Gur-Arie, Matthew Mallette, Mark Powell, Chad Pacilli
  • Publication number: 20240108495
Abstract: A method for providing localized thermal therapy to a vehicle occupant. The method comprises first operating a heating device to apply a first temperature for a first period of time and second operating the heating device to maintain a skin temperature of about 36° C. to 37° C. and/or a seat surface temperature of about 43° C. to 46° C.

  • Publication number: 20240108496
Abstract: A method for providing pulsing contrast therapy to a vehicle occupant. The method comprises first operating a heating device to apply a first temperature for a first period of time and second operating the heating device and a cooling device in an alternating manner for a plurality of time intervals. The thermal pulsing therapy achieves about a 0.5° C. to 2° C. change in a temperature of a surface of a seat and/or about a 0.2° C. to 1.5° C. change in a skin temperature of the vehicle occupant.

  • Patent number: 10220851
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for infrastructure-centric vehicle mode selection. An example vehicle includes a GPS receiver to provide a location of the vehicle, memory storing instructions, and a processor. The example processor, when executing the instructions, causes the vehicle to (a) when the vehicle is in a vicinity of an infrastructure of interest, determine a low traction anomaly value, and (b) in response to the a low traction anomaly value satisfying a threshold, change a driving mode of the vehicle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 14, 2016
Date of Patent: March 5, 2019
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Kwaku O. Prakah-Asante, Donnell Matthew Washington, Finn Finn Tseng
