  • Publication number: 20240123398
Abstract: Method and system for electrochemically compressing hydrogen. In one embodiment, the system includes a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) that includes a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM), an anode, and a cathode. First and second gas diffusion media are positioned adjacent the cathode and anode, respectively. A humidifying membrane is positioned next to the second gas diffusion medium on a side opposite the anode. A water supply is connected to the humidifying membrane, and a hydrogen gas supply is connected to the second gas diffusion medium. A hydrogen gas collector including a back pressure regulator is connected to the first gas diffusion medium. Separators, positioned on opposite sides of the MEA, are connected to a power source. In use, hydrogen is electrochemically pumped across the MEA and collected in the hydrogen gas collector. The PEM is kept properly humidified by the humidifying membrane, which releases water into the second gas diffusion medium.

  • Publication number: 20230278444
Abstract: A charging system for a material handling vehicle includes a charger plate assembly that is pivotally moveably coupled to a distal end of the mounting assembly arm. The charger plate assembly includes a first electrical contact that is configured to electrically couple with a second electrical contact of a charging port of the material handling vehicle. The charger plate assembly is configured to move relative to the mounting assembly arm when the first electrical contact electrically couples with the second electrical contact, which causes a scrubbing action between the first electrical contact and the second electrical contacts, thereby passively cleaning the contacts.

  • Patent number: 11012663
Abstract: Converting variable frame rate video to fixed frame rate video is described. A variable frame rate (VFR) video having source frames with varying frame durations is obtained. A fixed frame rate for the VFR video is determined. A mapping is generated which maps the source frames of the VFR video to a sequence of result frames of the fixed frame rate. To generate the mapping, a suitable source frame is chosen for each result frame using one or more mapping rules. After the mapping is generated, the mapping is adjusted to improve smoothness of motion of the VFR video by adding at least one skipped source frame to the mapping and removing at least one repeated source frame from the mapping. The VFR video is then converted into, or interpreted as, a fixed frame rate video having the determined fixed frame rate based on the adjusted mapping.

  • Patent number: 8596337
Abstract: An active cooling assembly is described. One embodiment of the active cooling assembly includes a fin configured to enable convective heat transfer to an airflow passing over the fin. A boundary layer accumulates between the fin and the airflow, and the boundary layer includes a region of heated air attached to a side of the fin. The embodiment also includes a blade configured to oscillate proximate to the fin to shear the boundary layer that accumulates between the fin and the airflow. The region of heated air is sheared from the side of the fin so that the impedance attributable to the boundary layer of the convective heat transfer from the fin to the airflow is reduced. The fin is coupled to a stationary arm, and the blade is coupled to a swing arm. The swing arm and a spring are driven at a resonant frequency by an actuator.

  • Patent number: 8427036
Abstract: A phase change material (PCM) is used as thermal storage for lighting systems. The PCM is placed in a thermally conductive container in close contact with the lighting system. As the PCM absorbs heat, it changes from a solid to a liquid state, but the temperature of the PCM is clamped at its melting point temperature. For LED-based systems, the PCM is selected to have a melting point such that the junction temperatures of the LEDs in the system are maintained at approximately their optimum operating temperature inside the lighting system housing. Because the thermal conductivity of the molten PCM is poor, a low thermal resistance heat flow path is provided from the PCM to the container.

  • Patent number: 8136967
Abstract: An optical lens and method for designing the lens are disclosed. The lens includes a first surface and a second surface. Light emitted from multiple light emitting elements enters the lens through a central section of the first surface. The light can be reflected from a reflective central section of the second surface and/or undergo total internal reflection at an outer ring section of the second surface one or more times before exiting the lens through the outer ring section of the second surface. Upon exiting the lens, the light beam has a predetermined divergence angle and has a fairly uniform color in the far field even if the multiple light emitting elements have different peak wavelengths.

  • Patent number: 8140953
Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a media tagger that obtains a media project defined according to a native representation. The media project is made up of project objects and the native representation describes each project object's context within the media project. The media tagger receives an exportable media object, encoded according to an output format, which can include logical contributions from the project object(s). The media tagger tags the exportable media object and stores the exportable media object in a media catalogue. The media tagger acknowledges the selection of a desired output format to create a formatted media project based on the native representation of the media project. Upon validating that the exportable media object in the media catalogue can be used to build the formatted media project, the media tagger exports the exportable media object from the media catalogue.

  • Patent number: 8123389
Abstract: A lighting system is described. The lighting system includes a lamp and a first container including a first phase change material thermally connected to the lamp. Heat generated by the lamp during operation is conducted to the first phase change material. The system also includes a second container including a second phase change material thermally connected to the lamp. Heat generated by the lamp during operation is also conducted to the second phase change material, and the second phase change material has a transition point temperature lower than the transition point temperature of the first phase change material of the first container to account for a temperature drop between the second container and the first container. The lighting system also includes a temperature sensor for reducing lamp power if the lamp becomes too hot, and a mounting bracket which may also conduct heat away from the lamp.
