  • Patent number: 11413554
Abstract: An assembly and a method for treating raw water wherein the raw water is heated on the heating side of a heat pump and at least partially evaporated into an air stream. At least part of the raw water evaporated into the air stream is separated in a suitable device. In addition, the heat pump is provided with heat on the cooling side by means of heated raw water that has not been evaporated into the air stream, and the heat pump has a thermal coupling in a coldest section of its cooling side, in order to provide cooling for external applications.

  • Patent number: 11331591
Abstract: A humidity management device and a potable water generation system and method using such a device are provided. The humidity management device includes a chamber having an air inlet disposed adjacent a first end and an air outlet disposed adjacent a second end, and a dispensing mechanism configured to dispense a moisture-regulating substance into a space between the first and second ends. The dispensing mechanism includes a liquid inlet disposed adjacent the second end for supplying a flow of the moisture-regulating substance into the chamber toward the first end and a conveyor configured to transport a portion of the moisture-regulating substance collected adjacent the first end and re-distribute said moisture-regulating substance into the space between the first and second ends. The conveyor includes an Archimedes' screw at least partially enclosed in an elongated sleeve.

  • Patent number: 10808949
Abstract: A humidity management device, a humidity management method, an air-conditioning system, and a method of operating an air-conditioning system are disclosed. The humidity management device includes a chamber having a first end and a second end, an air inlet disposed adjacent the first end, an air outlet disposed adjacent the second end, a rotatable brush disposed between the first and second ends, the brush having a sorbent-carrying surface, and sorbent distribution means configured to distribute a sorbent over the sorbent-carrying surface. The air inlet is configured to receive input air having a first humidity level. The air outlet is configured to draw the input air to contact the sorbent-carrying surface to thereby change a moisture content of the input air such that output air exiting the air outlet has a second humidity level different from the first humidity level.

  • Patent number: 10022651
Abstract: A device for the contact of a gas phase with a liquid medium, and a method for operating the device. The liquid medium here is directed into the device and some of it is raised by means of a conveying device. The liquid medium raised is distributed over a rotating brush by way of a distributing means. At least one gas inlet and a fan here generate a gas stream from a lower portion of the device to an upper portion of the device. The liquid medium distributed over the upper surface of the brush is directed back by way of the brush, counter to the gas stream, into the lower region.

  • Publication number: 20170189849
Abstract: A device and a method treats a gas flow. Combustible components are separated from a first gas flow by means of an absorption process using a liquid medium in an absorption device; the components dissolved in the liquid medium are deposited into a second gas flow by means of a desorption process in a desorption device; and the concentration of combustible components in the second gas flow is set to a specified value. The second gas flow with the combustible components is additionally supplied to a gas turbine as fuel in order to generate electric energy and heat. A virtually energy-neutral exhaust air purification process is possible using the proposed device and method.

  • Publication number: 20130087043
Abstract: A device comprises a desorber unit having a carrier arrangement with an inlet and an outlet for the liquid mixture, wherein the cant-lien arrangement is designed such that the liquid mixture can be guided between inlet and outlet via a number of carriers, e.g., profiles, tubes or pipes, and form a flowing liquid film on the surface of the carriers, and a gas control with a gas inlet and a gas outlet, between which the gas can sweep past the liquid film, such that the at least one volatile substance can pass over from the liquid mixture into the gas. A condensation unit with a gas inlet connects to the gas outlet of the desorber unit. A heat exchanger cools gas passed through it, which comes from the desorber unit, such that the at least one volatile substance can be condensed from the gas. A fan is incorporated into a gas connection between the desorber unit and the condensation unit such that a gas stream through the device can be produced.
