  • Patent number: 8290568
Abstract: It is disclosed a system and method (12) for determining a property map (82) of an object, particularly a human being, based on at least a first image (84), particularly an magnetic resonance (MR) image, of the object. In the method (12), a structure of reference pairs is defined in a first step (96), wherein each reference pair (16-26) comprises at least two entries (62). The first entry represents a property value, particularly an attenuation value. The second entry (62) preferably represents a group of image points (67) belonging together, which is extracted particularly from MR images (28) and comprises an interesting image point corresponding to the property value. In another step (98) of the method (12) a plurality of training pairs (16-26) is provided. A structure of the training pairs (16-26) corresponds to the structure of reference pairs, and the entries of respective training pairs (16-26) are known.

  • Publication number: 20110305215
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling Discontinuous Reception (DRX) mode in telecommunication user equipment (UE), with the object to improve system power consumption of a UE of a wireless communication system that is running the DRX mode in RRC_CONNECTED state. In an LTE communication system, DRX functionality is applied to the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer to discontinue monitoring the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) for certain periods in order to reduce power consumption of the UE. Typical physical UE implementations have the stack controller and the Physical Layer (PHY) running on several hardware blocks that can enter power saving modes independently. The method comprises a partitioning of the functionality between stack controller and PHY layer that allows the stack controller entity to be active at a minimum while ensuring that the UE still behaves standard compliant to the network.

  • Publication number: 20110305159
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling measurements in a wireless telecommunications terminal. In a Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless communication system, the network instructs a UE to measure the received power and quality of the reference signals of the serving cell as well as of neighbor cells. The object of improving the system power consumption of user equipment (UE) that has to perform such measurements is solved by distributing the measurement functionality between RRC and PHY layers such that the RRC layer is enabled to rest in a power save mode unless results of the measurements have to be reported to the network, and to be only active for a minimum to ensure that the UE still behaves standard compliant to the network.

  • Patent number: 7742898
Abstract: A method for handling a faulty device in a vehicle communication network is provided, which is used to identify devices that are either faulty, were removed from the vehicle communication network or were switched off, and to automatically initiate a fault-remedying measure. An expanded, device-specific driver having diagnostic functions is loaded by another device of the network to send a test signal to the faulty device. Either the faulty device is restarted or the faulty device is switched off depending on the reaction to the test signal. If a device is removed from the network, this is indicated in a database. A bus manager will inform other devices connected to the network that this device was removed from the network. Due to a classification of the individual devices connected to the network, not every device is able to perform the fault handling, but rather only suitably classified devices. Misuse is thereby prevented.

  • Publication number: 20090188860
Abstract: The use of dihalogeno-hydroxydiphenyl ethers as antimicrobial agents in water treatment processes, such as in purification and decontamination of drinking or waste water, is claimed. Preferably the water treatment is performed in a membrane filtration system. The antimicrobial agents protect the membrane system against bacterial and/or algal decay and assist in maintaining a high efficiency of the membrane filtration process. Methods of maintaining membrane filtration efficiency using dihalogeno-hydroxydiphenylethers as well as aqueous antimicrobial rinsing liquors comprising dihalogeno-hydroxydiphenylethers are also claimed.

  • Patent number: 7541921
Abstract: A method for an emergency call from a vehicle to an alarm centre, including receiving a wireless initiation signal from a portable alarm unit, evaluating the initiation signal, and sending, based on the result of the evaluation, a wireless alarm signal from a vehicle communication system arranged in the vehicle to the alarm centre. If the owner of the vehicle or some other person gets into an emergency, for instance is assaulted, in the immediate surroundings of the vehicle, it is thus possible to send an alarm signal to an alarm centre via the vehicle without first entering it. The personal safety for the individual is therefore increased. In addition, in the case of an assault, the perpetrator can be frightened away by sound and/or light signals emitted by the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7330455
Abstract: A communication device and a method for transmitting data in wireless local area networks is provided. The device and method are deployed in networks in which the data information elements include an element identification part, a length statement part and an information part. The device and method enable a broad range of data transmission rates and are full compatible with communicating units operating according to previous modes in which a first data transmission rule defines the acceptable range of values of element identification parts. In the method, a second data transmission rule is implemented in at least one of the communicating units to extend the acceptable range of values of element identifications. The range of values is extended so that a second standard portion of the element identification part marks the information element as a second information element.

  • Publication number: 20070291738
Abstract: To control a baseband processor within a wireless network, data transmission rules are implemented in respective hosts for first and second communicants, which guarantee data transmission there between according to the rules. Data packets are communicated over electromagnetic signal paths by high frequency transceiver of a WLAN card connected to the host by a WLAN card interface. A baseband processor, on the WLAN card, prepares data packets according to the rules. The first and/or second communicants are controlled by a protocol module in the host, using hardware driver in the host, avoiding WLAN card interface. WLAN card hardware operates solely according to conditions and restrictions of a data transmission rule agreed between protocol module and baseband processor, independent of conditions and restrictions of operating system and WLAN card interface and hence, a functional region is generated in the WLAN card with hardware and software interfaces, implemented according to the rule.

  • Patent number: 7158869
Abstract: A method of operating a device which is connected to a vehicle communications network is described, a switched-off device being reactivated by the bus manager via a frequency pulse transmitted over a power supply line. The device may be switched off by the bus manager or by itself if there is no data communication with the device for a predetermined period of time. The frequency pulse is analyzed by an analyzer circuit of the switched-off device, the analyzer circuit having a frequency-selective filter and a threshold detector. The frequency pulse may be transmitted at a frequency which is valid for only one device or at a frequency for a group of devices or at a frequency for all devices. If the devices are arranged in branches, then all the devices downstream from a switched-off device are also switched off or reactivated.

  • Publication number: 20060251040
Abstract: A procedure for establishing a connection between a mobile station and a communication network through an access point involves selection of communication parameters. The procedure automatic recognizes currently available connections possibilities to various communication networks of various standards, and stores and analyzes found parameters for the standards and the establishment and maintenance of a connection with one of the found connection possibilities. The automatic recognition includes investigation of connection possibilities of networks with differing standards and frequency bands. In the procedure, a check of the connection possibilities within a first selected standard is carried out, then within a second selected standard is carried out. Parameters characterizing the standard with which a connection possibility is found are stored. A connection is established to an access point with which communication occurs using a standard after program controlled or manual selection of selection criteria.
