  • Publication number: 20240258050
Abstract: A hybrid circuit breaker is disclosed, which comprises an input connector for a power grid, an output connector for a load and a current path in-between. Furthermore, the hybrid circuit breaker comprises an electro-mechanical bypass switch being arranged in the current path and a semiconductor circuit in parallel with the electro-mechanical bypass switch. Further on, the hybrid circuit breaker comprises a control unit being capable of controlling a commutation from the current path, in which the electro-mechanical bypass switch is arranged, to the semiconductor circuit in case of a switch off operation. The electro-mechanical bypass switch is embodied as a vacuum interrupter, which comprises a switching contact and an actuator being designed to drive the switching contact.

  • Publication number: 20190252143
Abstract: A low-voltage circuit breaker includes: at least one external conductor section from an external conductor power terminal of the low-voltage circuit breaker to an external conductor load terminal of the low-voltage circuit breaker; a neutral conductor section from a neutral conductor terminal of the low-voltage circuit breaker to a neutral conductor load terminal of the low-voltage circuit breaker; a mechanical bypass switch arranged in the external conductor section; a semiconductor circuit arrangement switched in parallel to the bypass switch; an electronic control unit; and a first current measuring arrangement arranged in the external conductor section, the first current measuring arrangement including a first shunt, which is connected to the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit actuates the mechanical bypass switch and the semiconductor circuit arrangement upon detecting a prespecifiable overcurrent that includes a short circuit current, by the current measuring arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20160372281
Abstract: A switching device has a first switching path having first switching contacts and has a second switching path having second switching contacts, wherein the first switching path has a first electromagnetic tripping apparatus having a first coil winding, wherein the first coil winding has a first winding direction, wherein the second switching path has a second electromagnetic tripping apparatus having a second coil winding, and wherein the second coil winding has a second winding direction. The first switching contacts and the second switching contacts are coupled for substantially simultaneous actuation. The first switching path and the second switching path are arranged adjacent to each other in the switching device. The first winding direction is opposite the second winding direction.
