  • Publication number: 20090139350
Abstract: The invention concerns a device (1) for measuring the strip tension in a metal strip, especially a steel strip, which device has a flat, level table (2), over which the metal strip can run and at one end (3) of which a plurality of measuring elements (4) is mounted, which are suitable for measuring the strip tension, where cooling elements (5) are provided, which are installed under the table (2) and with which cooling liquid, especially water, can be carried into the area of the measuring element (4). In order to secure the table against sagging in a simple way, the invention provides that the cooling elements (5) have a box-like cooling liquid tank (6), which is arranged on both sides of the metal strip on at least one support member, such that the underside of the table (2) rests directly or indirectly on the box-like cooling liquid tank (6).

  • Publication number: 20090139681
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for producing a metal strip (1) by continuous casting, using a casting machine (2) in which a slab (3), preferably a thin slab, is cast. At least one milling machine (4) is arranged in the direction of transport (F) of the slab (3) behind the casting machine (2). At least one surface of the slab (3), preferably two surfaces which are opposite to each other, can be milled in said milling device. According to the invention, in order to keep the temperature loss to a minimum when the slab is machined and/or processed, at least one milling cutter (5, 6) of the milling machine (4), preferably the entire milling machine (4), is arranged in a displaceable machine in the direction (Q) perpendicular to the direction of transport (F) of the slab (3). The invention also relates to a method for producing a metal strip.

  • Publication number: 20080302301
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for the hot-dip coating of a metal strip (1), more particularly of a steel band, in which the metal strip (1) is guided vertically through a container (3) containing the molten coating—metal (2) and through an upstream guide channel (6), in the vicinity of which, on both sides of the metal strip (1), are arranged at least two inductors (8) for generating an electromagnetic field for holding the coating metal (2) in the container (3), a furnace chamber (9), which contains guide means and has a protective gas atmosphere, being located upstream of the guide channel (6). In order to ensure a good, durable seal between the guide channel (6) and the furnace chamber (9) under the established conditions, the invention proposes that a gas-tight, heat-resistant and flexible seal (13) be arranged between the furnace chamber (9) and the guide channel (6).

  • Patent number: 7322221
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for applying lubricants on the peripheral surfaces of rollers in roll stands for rolling strips, more particularly multiple roll stands with support rollers and working rollers (SW; AW), wherein the lubricants are applied in an area of the peripheral surfaces of the working cylinder (AW) which impinges upon the rolling strip (WB) located between the upper or bottom strip surface and the strippers (AS) placed against the peripheral surfaces. The improvement to said device is characterized in that the lubricant is applied by means of the application rollers (ATW) that can be pressed against the peripheral surfaces of the working roller (AW), whose periphery is impinged upon by the periphery of a coaxially mounted transmission roller (UW) on the peripheral surface of which lubricant is applied by means of spraying, splashing or dipping devices (SD; TW).

  • Patent number: 6470722
Abstract: A looper for measuring a wedge proportion of a longitudinal pull present within a strip in a longitudinal direction of the strip, wherein the wedge proportion is present across a width of the strip, has a looper shaft and pivot arms each having a first end and a second end, wherein the first ends are connected to the looper shaft. A continuous looper roll extends across the width of the strip and is supported on the second ends of the pivot arms, wherein the looper roll is adjusted relative to the strip by rotation of the looper shaft. Each pivot arm has a looper shaft arm, a looper roll arm, and a joint connecting the looper shaft arm and the looper roll arm to one another. A dynamometer is connected to each pivot arm, wherein the joints of the pivot arms deflect a return force, exerted by the strip onto the looper roll and corresponding to the longitudinal pull, onto the dynamometers, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6295852
Abstract: In a method and a device for descaling a metal strip, the metal strip is guided in a transport direction from a first roll stand to a second roll stand. A descaling device is positioned between the first and second roll stands. A descaling liquid is sprayed onto the metal strip from a working distance relative to the metal strip via the descaling device. The metal strip is moved at the location of the descaling device by a forced deflection amount in a direction transverse to the transport direction via an advancing element. A position of the descaling device is adjusted based on the forced deflection amount such that the working distance stays the same.

  • Patent number: 6192765
Abstract: A planarity measuring roller is constructed as a loop lifter which is adjustable relative to a rolled strip. The loop lifter includes a plurality of measuring zones located next to one another over the width of the rolled strip. Each measuring zone includes a rotatably mounted individual measuring roller which is pivotable in a clockwise direction and interacts with a force measuring device. Each measuring roller is mounted in a pivotable housing-like lever frame. The pivot point of each lever frame, the point of rotation of the corresponding measuring roller and a force introduction point of the force measuring device arranged underneath of the pivot point of the lever frame form an approximately isosceles triangle.
