  • Patent number: 9168801
Abstract: A transverse link made of fiber-reinforced plastics material for a wheel suspension, which transverse link is pivotable on its bearing elements about a common pivot axis or axes running substantially coaxially with respect to one another, these bearing elements being connected by a single-shell connecting element having connecting arms to a bearing element having a ball and socket joint bearing. The bearing elements and the connecting element are elements of an integral plastics material. In order to produce a transverse link of this type, disclosed is an integral plastics material moulded part produced by extrusion of plastics, the bearing elements having bearing bushes shells surrounded by extrusion of the plastics material. The ball and socket joint bearing have a bearing bush or a shell-shaped sliding capsule, produced from plastics material and connected to the connecting element, the connecting element comprising a centre or transverse web connecting the bearing elements.

  • Patent number: 8291595
Abstract: A link rod with a U-shaped profile made from a one-piece sheet metal shell including two part shells and a back connecting said part shells. Bearing eyes are formed from a pair of aligned holes in the part shells. To obtain outer collars having inner bearing support surfaces for the bearing eyes with a slim-shaped construction of the link rod, the forming is performed stepwise by firstly producing the holes and bending the edges thereof to form the collars on one of the part shells which have not yet been brought parallel to each other by bending. Only then is what is to become the second part shell bent such as to be parallel to the first part shell. The holing and the bending of the edges of the holes on the second part shell is then carried out through the holes of the first part shell.

  • Patent number: 7137201
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for the production of locally reinforced drawn parts, in which the basic sheet of the structural part, in the flat or only preformed state, is connected in a defined position to the reinforcing sheet and this patched composite sheet structure is subsequently jointly formed. In order to improve the production method in terms of the product and result of the method and to relieve the forming tools during joint forming of the parts, the patched composite sheet structure is heated before forming at least to about 800° C. to 850° C. The composite sheet structure is then introduced quickly in the hot state to be rapidly formed. During forming the composite part is fixed mechanically and is subsequently cooled in a defined manner by contacting with the forming tool positively cooled from inside. Passage through a critical temperature range of 800° C. to 500° C. thus takes place with a defined temperature gradient.

  • Patent number: 6905129
Abstract: A wishbone for an automotive suspension and comprising two sheet metal halves, for attaching the front wheels of a motor vehicle. The wishbone is provided with two points of articulation on the chassis, one behind the other along the direction of travel and representing a horizontal axis (5) for the wishbone (2) to tilt around. The wishbone is also provided with one point (8) of attachment for the suspension. The object is a simpler and hence more cost-effective wishbone. At least one of the points (3 & 4) of articulation is accordingly a hollow hexagonal cross-section bolt (11) comprising two halves (18 & 19) that engages a bearing housing and is an integral component of the wishbone halves (14 & 15).

  • Patent number: 6135251
Abstract: A shock absorber for a motor vehicle has a deformation body, which can be deformed in the case of a collision and into the path of which a blocking part protrudes, with which, due to the forces acting during a collision, a plastic deformation of the deformation body is achieved with absorption of the collision energy, it being possible to increase the deformation resistance of the deformation body by directing it into an additional deformation stage. For this purpose, the blocking body has at least two switched positions, in which it protrudes into the path of movement of the deformation body, as a result of which the deformation body is plastically deformed to a greater or lesser extent due to the forces acting during impact.
