  • Patent number: 9689367
Abstract: A method for determining the starting capability of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, which can be started by an electric motor powered by a battery, including detecting first battery parameter values during a successful starting sequence of the internal combustion engine at a first time, detecting second battery parameter values at a second time following the first time, determining at the second time the expected battery voltage for a starting sequence of the internal combustion engine taking place at a third time based on the detected first and second battery parameter values, and comparing the battery voltage expected at the third time with a predetermined threshold value in order to derive therefrom the starting capability of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 8448763
Abstract: A housing-piston assembly for a coupling device, especially a wet-running, multi-plate clutch or a bridging clutch of a hydrodynamic coupling device, wherein the piston (4) is attached to a housing (2) by means of connecting elements (8) in such a way that it has a certain freedom of movement, and rivets (10, 12) are provided as fastening elements between the piston (4) and the connecting elements (8) and/or between the connecting elements (8) and the housing (2), and wherein at least one support element (20, 36, 70, 86) can be positioned in a riveting position between the piston (4) and the connecting elements (8) and/or between the connecting elements (8) and the housing (2) in such a way that anvil sections (18, 44, 74, 92) of the support element (20, 36, 70, 86) lie behind the set heads (14) of their associated rivets (10, 12). A method of assembling a housing-piston assembly is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7482921
Abstract: The device and the method enable the localization of transponders, particularly in motor vehicles. A determination of the distance of different transponders from the base station is made possible by evaluating the different request signals and response signals received and also the physical variables contained therein, such as signal level, charging time, and signal propagation delay. As a result of the relative determination of the different distances of the transponders from a base station, it is for example possible to determine the position of wheels of a motor vehicle. This means savings in terms of tire electronics, which require a separate power supply and are technically more complicated and more expensive to use than transponders.

  • Patent number: 7233242
Abstract: A transmit antenna (3) is supplied with energy by a power supply unit (2). An electrical value characteristic for the transmit power is compared to a comparison value and the length of a time interval is measured in which the characteristic value at least reaches or exceeds the comparison value. Depending on the length of this time interval the transmit power is set.

  • Patent number: 7222046
Abstract: Devices and methods are used for ascertaining wheel positions of wheels on a wheeled vehicle. Separate wheel units are connected to each other via a vehicle bus and via an additional supply lead, so that for the purposes of learning the separate wheel units, the separate wheel units are connected to the supply lead successively in a predetermined sequence and provided with a new, individual identity code, or subjected to a wheel-unit-specific dc voltage potential as an identity code by using at least one additional connection.
