  • Patent number: 11008925
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for monitoring effectiveness of a three-way catalytic converter of a gasoline engine. The method includes detecting emissions of the gasoline engine by an NOX sensor arranged within the three-way catalytic converter or downstream of the three-way catalytic converter in an exhaust-gas flow direction and transmitting values measured by the NOX sensor together with operating variables of the gasoline engine and/or of the three-way catalytic converter to a processor. The processor is configured to execute a simulation model and thereby calculate emissions values of a reference catalytic converter on the basis of the operating variables. The method further includes comparing the calculated emissions values with the values measured by the NOX sensor.

  • Patent number: 9803597
Abstract: A control device is provided for uniformly distributing gases and/or liquids between at least two containers with a different internal pressure, such as, fuel containers, crank casings and the like, in particular in internal combustion engines with more than one cylinder bank and a separate intake air feed per bank. The gas feed line assemblies (1) leading to the cylinder banks are connected to a chamber of a double-acting pressure box (4) and the gas flow in the gas feed line assembly (1) with the greater underpressure is reduced using a diaphragm (7) that is deflected as a result of a pressure difference in the gas feed line assemblies (1) by means of at least one throttle valve (10, 11) that can be activated via at least one sliding element (8, 9).

  • Publication number: 20080022959
Abstract: In a method for starting an internal combustion engine with direct injection of the fuel, an injection into at least one of the cylinders is omitted in a directed manner during at least one cylinder operating cycle of the internal combustion engine after an event triggering the operation to start the internal combustion engine has occurred and in the presence of at least one predetermined operating condition.
