The support film is a film of thermoplastic foam material, and the top films are laminated on in temporal succession and in overlapping relationship onto the support film.

Abstract: In a computing device such as a mobile phone which includes a splash-screen displayed while the operating system is booting up, the portion of the operating system which is responsible for the display after booting up is provided with all the information about the state of the splashscreen, so that a smooth transition is provided between the splashscreen and the initial screen under the control of the operating system when control of the screen is passed from the boot-up process to the operating system.

Abstract: An intermediate software layer, which is preferably provided by a device manufacturer, processes a list of commands and actions provided by a generic application, and assigns them to various input mechanisms, and constructs appropriate menus to display on the screen of the device. Where the application supports multiple windows, views or panes the intermediate layer is able to distinguish which part of the application has the focus and adjust the actions resulting from user inputs accordingly. Hence, the computing device is operated in such a way that a generic application, not specifically designed for the device, is able to take advantage of those unique input methods that the particular device possesses. A preferred implementation is on devices such as mobile telephones, which have no fixed paradigm for providing input and whose keyboards (where they exist) have no fixed number of input buttons.

Abstract: A computing device comprises an application framework that handles both UI controls and user input and which provides user interface (UI) services required by applications. Embedded links are established between uniquely identifiable controls and uniquely identifiable tasks or service requests, which are stored in a data store of the device. When a control is invoked, the store is examined to identify any embedded links that uniquely reference that control. The control is then modified to allow a user or operator to additionally select an option relating to the tasks or services attached to the identified embedded links and the application framework issues the identified task or service request when the user or operator selects the additional option that has been added to the control.
