  • Publication number: 20090200718
Abstract: In a spring shock absorber for a motor vehicle, with a first body part and a second body part, the first body part forms a first changeable volume with the second body part by way of a first rolling bellows, and the second body part forms a second changeable volume with a roll-off piston connected to the first body part by way of a second rolling bellows. The two rolling bellows are arranged in such a way that they are guided in the radial direction during a rolling motion by lateral contours of the two body parts and the roll-off piston. The two volumes are connected to one another via a throttle element and form a hermetically closed two-volume system with respect to a deflection of the spring shock absorber. The roll-off piston is guided through the second body part in a longitudinally displaceable manner by means of a sealing element.

  • Patent number: 6974003
Abstract: A combined spring/damper system for the support of wheel suspensions or axles on a vehicle body, with a tubular concertina which is mounted between an outer bell and a rolling piston and the meniscus of which is guided on a cylindrical inner-wall region of the outer bell and a cylindrical outer-wall region of the rolling piston. The outer bell or the rolling piston of the displacer is supported between the vehicle body and the chassis in at least one articulated support. The concertina space is filled with a fluid and communicates with a hydraulic accumulator mounted on the chassis side or on the vehicle-body side. Thus, a combined spring/damper system is provided, which includes a low-friction and virtually maintenance-free displacer.

  • Patent number: 6698778
Abstract: An air suspension for a vehicle includes at least one air spring per wheel at at least one vehicle axle, one pump, at least one accumulator, and one circuit arrangement for connecting these units, the pressure side of the pump being connected to the accumulator or the air springs. To form a closed compressed-air system, the intake side of the pump is connected via at least one valve to the accumulator or the air springs, and at least the air-guiding interior pump chambers between the intake side and the pressure side of the pump have a pressure-tight design. The air suspension system requires comparably low energy consumption and small unit volume at a high level of efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5584226
Abstract: A hydraulically supported power steering system is disclosed for motor vehicles including a double-acting hydraulic displacement unit or piston/cylinder unit for generating an auxiliary hydraulic force. For this purpose, the displacement body working spaces or piston working spaces can be acted upon by controllable hydraulic pressure or relieved of hydraulic pressure by means of associated conduits controlled by a servo-valve. The displacement unit or piston/cylinder unit also undertakes the function of a steering damper by means of damper valves arranged on the conduit connections. The damper valves include a perforated disc type of support part which can be clamped in the manner of a spacer ring between a bearing surface of a connecting mouthpiece arranged on a housing of one of the servo-valve and the displacement unit and an opposite bearing surface of a connecting part of a conduit, said connecting part being detachably connected to the connecting mouthpiece.
