  • Patent number: 10062241
Abstract: Method for checking the consistency of control software of a controller of a self-service automat having a trustworthy domain (1) that is located inside the self-service automat, comprising these steps: checking the control software (2) for consistency by the trustworthy domain (1) in the event of an inconsistency a blocking signal is generated that is used to restrict the functionality of the self-service automat.

    Assignee: Diebold Nixdorf, Incorporated
Inventors: Volker Krummel, Michael Nolte, Matthias Runowski
  • Patent number: 9331850
Abstract: Method to secure the communication of components within self-service automats that are linked to each other by a bus system, having a transmitter and a receiver, characterized in that data are exchanged as tupels (C,A,R,N,Z) on the transport layer of the bus system where C are the message data M encrypted with an encryption key, A are the message data M authenticated with an authentication key, R represents the role of a component on the bus system of active or passive participants, N represents a message counter, Z represents a session counter.

    Assignee: Wincor Nixdorf International, GmbH
Inventors: Volker Krummel, Michael Nolte, Matthias Runowski, Johannes Bloemer
  • Patent number: 8898462
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for authenticating components of an self-service automatic teller machine, wherein the components comprise unambiguous identification information that can be exchanged among the components, wherein an authentication of the components and/or the information exchanged between the components is carried out by the encryption and/or signature of the information on basis of identity based encryption (IBE) that uses the identification information of the components.

  • Patent number: 8631246
Abstract: A method for commencing operation of an encrypted pin pad (EPP) of a self-service terminal. The EPP includes a security module that is capable of encrypting a confidential numeric code entered over the EPP with a PIN key. The EPP has a sensor that detects whether the EPP is installed properly in the self-service terminal or not. The sensor signal is scanned by the security module of the EPP. The EPP automatically goes to a non-operational mode if the sensor signal indicates that the EPP is not properly installed. The EPP, after passing from an operational to a non-operational mode, can only be returned to operation by entering an authorized activation code in the keypad security module.
