  • Patent number: 5472764
Abstract: A solid coating composition based on a polyolefin containing a filler is disclosed. The polyolefin is partly or completely reacted with either an unsaturated organic acid or an unsaturated organic acid anhydride.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 4, 1993
Date of Patent: December 5, 1995
    Assignee: Huels Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 5412029
Abstract: A protective material, based on poly-.alpha.-olefins, capable of easy application in molten form, is distinguished by a balanced pattern of properties, good adhesion and good recycling capability. The present protective materials contain (I) not less than 50% by weight of one or more largely amorphous poly-.alpha.-olefins, composed of (a) 3 to 75% by weight of one or more .alpha.-olefins containing 4 to 10 carbon atoms, (b) 25 to 95% by weight of propene, and (c) 0 to 20% by weight of ethene; (II) not more than 30% by weight of other olefin homo- and copolymers which may be either largely amorphous or preferably partially crystalline; and (III) not more than 40% by weight of additives which are standard in the plastic sector. Such protective materials can be used in particular in the underfloor region of motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5241014
Abstract: A process for the production of largely amorphous polyalphaolefins with a narrow molecular weight distribution is provided where the products exhibit the following features:softening point between 70.degree. and 40.degree. C.;melt viscosity (190.degree. C.) between 1,000 and 100,000 mPas;density less than 0.90 g/cm.sup.3 ;needle penetration between 5 and 50 0.1 mm; andmaximum molecular inhomogeneity 6.These polymers are obtained by a radical decomposition performed at high temperatures on copolymers based on C.sub.4-10 alpha-olefins, propene and optionally ethene. The products are suitable for use as hot melt adhesives as well as for heavy coating compounds.

  • Patent number: 4946996
Abstract: An allyl amine compound such as an allyl dialkyl amine is prepared by the reaction of ammonia or a water soluble amine with an allyl halide in the presence of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide or carbonate using a two-phase reaction system comprising water and a water-immiscible organic liquid. The allyl amine product is of an exceptionally high purity and contains relatively small amounts of salts. When the reaction method is employed to prepare an allyl dialkyl amine, the allyl dialkyl amine can effectively be quaternized to prepare a pure diallyl dialkyl ammonium compound at high yields.
