  • Patent number: 8324826
Abstract: The invention relates to composing a lighting atmosphere from an abstract description for example a lighting atmosphere specified in XML, wherein the lighting atmosphere is generated by several lighting devices, by automatically rendering the desired lighting atmosphere from the abstract description. The abstract description describes the type of light with certain lighting parameters desired at certain semantic locations at certain semantic times. This abstract atmosphere description is automatically transferred to a specific instance of a lighting system (14, 16, 18). The invention has the main advantage that it allows to create light scenes and lighting atmospheres at a high level of abstraction without requiring the definition of a lighting atmosphere or scene by setting the intensity, color, etc. for single lighting units or devices which can be very time consuming and cumbersome, particularly with large and complex lighting systems comprising many lighting devices.

  • Patent number: 8084945
Abstract: The invention relates to a circuit (2) comprising at least two parallel-connected light-emitting diodes (4, 5) opposite poled in a first parallel branch (12) and comprising at least two parallel-connected light-emitting diodes (6, 7) opposite poled in a second parallel branch (13), and also comprising a capacitor (8) and a coil (9). According to the invention, the first parallel branch (12) has a capacitor (8) and the second parallel branch (13) has the coil (9). On account of the capacitive parallel branch (10) and the inductive parallel branch (11), idle currents arise which are phase-shifted with respect to one another. The idle currents compensate one another and light changes of the oppositely-poled diode pairs take place at different points in time. A light current is then smoothed.

  • Patent number: 8063577
Abstract: A driver circuit for operating one or more light emitting diodes(LEDs) is disclosed. An alternating supply current is generated and transformed to an alternating secondary winding voltage. Using rectifier means, such as diodes or synchronous switches, the alternating secondary winding voltage is converted to a substantially constant load current by using a buffer element. The buffer element comprises an output choke, such as an inductor. The power transferred from the power source to the LEDs may be controlled by frequency control of the alternating supply current.
