  • Publication number: 20250087783
Abstract: A thermal fin for a battery apparatus is configured to prevent thermal propagation between adjacent battery pack subassemblies. The thermal fin comprising a first and/or a second contact unit in facing contact with a first and a second battery pack subassembly. A supporting unit is sandwiched between the first and the second contact unit. The thermal fin extends in a fin plane, has a fin length in cross section along a longitudinal axis and a fin thickness. The thermal resistance within the fin plane is lower than the thermal resistance in a direction normal to the fin plane, such that the thermal fin performs a thermal management function and a thermal safety function of the battery apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20200141439
Abstract: A riveted joint comprising: an upper workpiece and a lower workpiece, and a self-piercing rivet. The rivet in an undeformed state, before the creation of the riveted joint, included: a head defining a head diameter (DH); a shank defining a shank diameter (DS); and a foot end opposite the head. Radially outward at the foot end is a flat surface facing away from the head; and an axial recess located radially inward of the flat surface, partly defined in the foot end, open axially away from the head, and frustoconical in longitudinal cross section. The axial recess defining an axial depth (LB). The ratio of recess axial depth (LB) to shank diameter (DS) is less than 0.3. And in a deformed state, after the creation of the riveted joint, the rivet extends through the first workpiece and penetrates the second workpiece; and the head bears against the upper surface.

  • Publication number: 20190078601
Abstract: A self-piercing rivet for joining workpieces comprises: a head defining a head diameter, and a shank which defining a shank diameter. The shank on a foot end opposite to the head, partially defines an axial recess which has an axial depth. The shank further includes a flat surface portion or a circular cutter on the foot end. And an axial circular recess is partially defined in a transition portion between the head and the shank.

  • Publication number: 20180058488
Abstract: A self-piercing rivet for joining a stack of at least two sheets of material. The rivet comprises a rivet head rotationally symmetrical to a central axis, and the rivet head includes a top side, a bottom side opposite the top side, and a cylindrical head exterior surface of a head diameter. The rivet head has a thickness (th) along the central axis. The rivet further comprises a rivet shank rotationally symmetrical to the central axis and including a cylindrical shank exterior surface and a cylindrical shank interior surface. The shank interior surface and the bottom side of the rivet head partially define a central shank hole that is open in an axial direction opposite to the bottom side of the rivet head. The rivet has an axial length (La) along the central axis, and the ratio between the head thickness and the axial length is between 1/7 and 1/22.
