  • Patent number: 8225622
Abstract: A system for cooling items of freight on board an aircraft includes a refrigerating device and also a cooling station to which cooling energy generated by the refrigerating device is supplied by a refrigerant medium. The cooling station is capable of being connected to a freight compartment of the aircraft or to a freight container on board the aircraft, in order to lead the cooling energy supplied to the cooling station away into the freight compartment or into the freight container. A freight container for receiving items of freight designated for transportation on board an aircraft is capable of being connected to a cooling station of a system for cooling items of freight on board an aircraft, so that the cooling energy supplied to the cooling station is capable of being led away into the freight container.

  • Patent number: 8061154
Abstract: A cooling system for the cooling of heat producing devices in an aircraft is designed with a central cold producing device, at least one cold consumer and a cold conveyance system which connects the cold producing device and the cold consumer. With this cooling system, the cold conveyance system has at least one cooling circuit which supplies a cooled cold carrier medium from the cold producing device to at least one cold consumer and brings the cold carrier medium back to the cold producing device, so that at least one cold consumer is supplied with the cold produced in the cold producing device.

  • Patent number: 8011536
Abstract: A dispenser of cooled or heated liquid which in one embodiment is a server cart for an aircraft. To avoid the need for a pump, the reservoir has a cooling or heating heat exchanger that helically coils around the main reservoir, which cools from the top down or heats from the bottom up, forming a counter current. The reservoir is connected to at least two conduits, one near the cooler top of the reservoir and one near the relatively warmer bottom of the reservoir. The two conduits connect to one another at a distance from the reservoir forming a dispensing passage, thereby allowing fluid to constantly circulate through the dispensing passage due to difference in the specific gravity in the fluid caused by the temperature difference. The elimination of the pump device is especially desirable for weight sensitive environments such as an aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20090308577
Abstract: A device for providing a cooled or heated liquid, in particular cooled drinking water comprises a reservoir for receiving the liquid to be cooled or to be heated. The reservoir is thermally coupled with a conduit through which a cooling medium or a heat transfer medium may flow and comprises a first as well as a second circulation connection, with the first circulation connection being connected with the second circulation connection via a circulation conduit.

  • Publication number: 20090000328
Abstract: The invention relates to a cooling system (20) for an aircraft, comprising a number of refrigeration devices (1) which produce refrigeration and transmit this refrigeration to a cooling medium, and a circuit (21), containing at least one refrigeration consumer (22), for the cooling medium, for supplying the refrigeration consumer(s) (22) with refrigeration. Each refrigeration device (1) is a modular unit coupled to the circuit (21) and having a pump (10), which conveys the cooling medium through the circuit (21).

  • Publication number: 20040175516
Abstract: An insulation arrangement includes an insulation packet that is made up of insulation material completely encased by a film, and that is arranged in an interspace between an inner trim component and an outer skin of an aircraft. The insulation packet does not completely fill the interspace, but rather leaves an air space. The film consists of a differentially gas permeable film material that provides a differentiated diffusion resistance with respect to water vapor diffusing therethrough, dependent on the direction of the diffusion through the film. Preferably the resistance to diffusion of water vapor into the insulation packet through the film is higher than the resistance to diffusion of water vapor out of the insulation packet through the film. The accumulation of moisture in the packet is avoided.
