  • Patent number: 8348423
Abstract: Disc designed to be attached to a concave curved surface of an optical component to modify an optical power of said component, the disc comprising a Fresnel lens made up of a series of Fresnel regions of spherical general shape, in which the changes of height between successive Fresnel regions are located on a concave face of the disc, and in which said Fresnel regions are made out in a special distribution. A disc of this kind maintains the dioptric quality without introducing distortions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 4, 2008
Date of Patent: January 8, 2013
Assignee: Essilor International (compagnie Generale d'optique)
    Inventors: Bruno Fermigier, Matthieu Koscher
  • Patent number: 8210677
Abstract: A disk enabling modification of the power of an optical component consists of a Fresnel lens. The disk is initially formed with a general rounded shape which corresponds to the shape of the optical component. In this way, the disk does not lose its shape or does not lose it very much when it is applied against the component. It does not cause image distortion or optical aberration when an object is observed through the component provided with the disk. Such a disk is particularly adapted to obtain correction of ametropia or to a solar mask initially lacking optical power.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 29, 2007
Date of Patent: July 3, 2012
Assignee: Essilor International (Compagnie Generale d'Optique)

  • Publication number: 20100247890
Abstract: The optical article of the invention is characterized in that it comprises on one of the main surfaces thereof an external hydrophobic and/or oleophobic coating, a dried temporary coating of a composition comprising, preferably consisting in, one or more aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane(s) having a polyether or polyester backbone directly deposited onto the external hydrophobic and/or oleophobic coating. Application to ophthalmic lenses.

  • Patent number: 7500844
Abstract: A mold for molding an optical element, in particular using a reaction injection molding method (RIM). The mold comprises a generally circular shaped, mold cavity having a geometrical center and a main plane, a sprue base with a longitudinal axis and a feed connection that makes the sprue base communicate with a feed sill of the mold cavity, the longitudinal axis of the sprue base and the geometrical center of the mold cavity defining a mold symmetry plane orthogonal to the main plane of the mold cavity, which intersection with said main plane defines a mold main axis, characterized in that the longitudinal axis of the sprue base together with a line perpendicular to the main plane of the mold cavity forms an angle ranging from 0 to 30°, preferably from 0 to 15°. Methods of using the mold and objects made thereby are also disclosed.
