  • Publication number: 20230221445
Abstract: A process and system for detection and telemetry using electromagnetic radiation pulses allows characterization of a radial velocity distribution as a function of a separation distance within an exploration zone. An impulse response from the system is used for decomposing a measurement signal which is collected for each acquisition sequence performed for a useful measurement. The result of the decomposition includes an estimate of the radial velocity distribution as a function of the separation distance.

  • Publication number: 20220334256
Abstract: A LIDAR system is adapted for performing anemometrical measurements relating to a focusing zone of a laser beam which is emitted by the system. The system includes a temporal control device for the laser beam, which is adapted for putting this laser beam in successive laser pulse form, so that each laser pulse has an individual length which is greater than or equal to twice the Rayleigh length divided by the propagation speed of the laser pulses in the atmosphere, and less than 20 ?s. Advantageously, the individual length of each laser pulse is between 0.2 and 5 times the coherence time of the atmosphere which is effective in the focusing zone. Such a LIDAR system provides values for a spectral CNR ratio which are better than those of systems from the state-of-the-art, at equivalent spatial resolution.

  • Patent number: 8179521
Abstract: A process for measuring speed or vibration characteristics using a LIDAR device allows the separation of a useful contribution and an interfering contribution in a backscattered signal. To this purpose, a phase characteristic of an optical wave emitted in the direction of a target volume is modulated. The interfering contribution, which originates from a source at a distance from the target volume, appears with variable shifts of said phase characteristic in a heterodyne detection signal. An accumulation then isolates the useful contribution, from which a result is obtained for the speed or vibration measurement. The process can be implemented with a frequency modulation or phase modulation of the optical wave.
