  • Patent number: 9596068
Abstract: A method for providing system integration (SI) updates for a carrier aggregation system is described. The method includes, for each other component carrier (CC) of a configured set of CCs, determining a start time for the other CC when updated SI for the other CC becomes valid. A first time prior to each start time for the at least one other CC is determined. A message including the updated SI for the at least one other CC and an indication of the first time is sent on a first CC. A UE configured for a set of CCs receiving the message. For each CC of the configured set of CCs, a next time for the other CC which begins after the first time is determined and the user equipment (UE) is configured to use the updated SI for the other CC beginning at the next time. Apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

  • Patent number: 9386601
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment there is sent to a user equipment UE downlink control information DCI comprising an indication of an access codeword and an indication that at least one component carrier CC is activated for the UE, and there is received from the UE the access codeword which is an acknowledgement that the UE has activated the at least one CC. The access codeword is received on an uplink channel which a) lies in the at least one activated CC if there is an activated uplink channel in the activated CC, or b) is previously activated if there is no activated uplink channel in the activated CC. In another embodiment DCI comprising the above two indications is received from a network, the received indications are used to select and access the at least one CC; and activating the CC is acknowledged by sending the access codeword.

  • Publication number: 20120254890
Abstract: A M2M device sends on a random access channel an indication of a small data transmission, and thereafter sends the small data on an initial uplink resource allocated in response to the indication. The network sends a connection rejection message which the M2M device interprets as an acknowledgement of the small data it sent. In one embodiment the indication is explicit and also indicates priority, type and/or size of the small data. In another embodiment the indication is implicit such as a RACH preamble signature sequence reserved for this purpose, where different reserved sequences map to different sizes for the small data. If needed a second indication can be sent with the small data which indicates its type, size and/or priority. The connection rejection message may indicate the acknowledgement via a cause value, and in response the M2M device then automatically enters an idle or a detached mode.

  • Patent number: 8266240
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and network device for allocating a radio resource, e.g. a radio bearer, to a data connection. First, a radio resource is allocated-to the data connection and data transmitted via the data connection is compressed and transmitted using the allocated radio resource. During the transmission, a transmission parameter of the compressed data is monitored and the allocated radio resource is reconfigured based on the monitoring result. Thereby, the radio resource can be dynamically adapted to different data rates during the connection. Header compression benefits are available to all kinds of traffic without the disadvantage of having too low or too high data rates.

  • Patent number: 7804850
Abstract: A system and methods for slow medium access control entity (MAC-e) for autonomous transmission during High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA), and for service specific transmission time control in HUSPA, wherein a control parameter that is independent from the air interface transmission time interval (TTI), hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) processes or enhanced dedicated transport channel (E-DCH) scheduling is used. This control defines the minimum time interval between subsequent new transmissions. The control has no impact on retransmissions, which are performed normally.

  • Patent number: 7756108
Abstract: A terminal, system and a method for transmitting voice from the terminal to at least one other terminal over a network. Voice is transmitted in first packets, and control information is transmitted in second packets. A bearer service is reserved from the network for transmission of the first and the second packets. In the terminal, voice activity is detected to determine whether there is voice or silence, wherein detected silence is used for transmitting at least one of the second packets.

  • Publication number: 20090041024
Abstract: In order to enable a more efficient use of an available transmission capacity, a transmitting device (10) assigns at least one identifier in common to at least two receiving devices (20, 30, 40). Further, it signals the at least one identifier to each of the receiving devices. A receiving device (20) receives and registers such a common identifier. Thereafter, the transmitting device announces a respective transmission of data packets for at least one of the receiving devices on a transmission channel by signaling the at least one common identifier. The receiving device (20) receives and detects such an identifier, which is used by the transmitting device (10) for announcing a transmission of data packets. The receiving device then extracts data packets for the receiving device from data packets on the transmission channel announced by the detected identifier.

  • Publication number: 20060240831
Abstract: Handing over a mobile terminal MT from a serving base station BS to a target BS employs a handover window HW during which the MT monitors a shared control channel of the target BS. The network determines whether to handover based on a MT measurement report. Once handover is determined, the serving BS sends over its shared data channel to the MT information about the target BS's shared control channel and a HW during which to monitor. The serving BS restricts transmissions to the MT to avoid the HW, which recurs in fixed intervals. The MT monitors the target BS's control channel during HWs, and the target BS sends the MT its identification in an HW, followed by data for the MT on the target BS's shared data channel. A handover confirmation message is then sent by the MT to the target BS, or by the target BS to an RNC.
