  • Patent number: 6964797
Abstract: The present invention relates to a laminated packaging material suitable for use especially in heat-sealable packages for liquid food, such as milk, cream and juice cartons, and to a manufacturing method of the material, and to a food package manufactured of the material. The material comprises a core of paper or cardboard, and oxygen and aroma proof barrier layers of EVOH and polyamide. The EVOH layer and the polyamide layer are joined together directly without any intermediate adhesive layer, and the barrier layers and the core are interposed between polymeric heat-sealing layers on both sides of the material. The material is manufactured by extrusion so that at least the materials of the said barrier layers are placed against each other in a molten state and forwarded to the core in one web.

The material comprises a core of paper or cardboard, and oxygen and aroma proof barrier layers of EVOH and polyamide; it is characteristic of the invention that the EVOH layer (5) and the polyamide layer (4) are joined together directly without any intermediate adhesive layer, and that the barrier layers and the core (3) are interposed between polymeric heat-sealing layers (2, 7) on both sides of the material. The material is manufactured by extrusion so that at least the materials of the said barrier layers (4, 5) are placed against each other in a molten state and forwarded to the core (3) in one web.

  • Patent number: 5993977
Abstract: The invention relates to a multilayer product for the production of packaging, the product comprising a carrier web (1), on one face of which there is disposed a tight multilayer coating (2) which includes a moisture-proof layer (b) and a gas-tight layer (a). The gas-tight layer is made up of a blend of an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer and a polar ethylene polymer. The moisture-proof layer is polyolefin, preferably a blend of polyethylene and a polar ethylene polymer.

  • Patent number: 5840385
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cover (4) of a product package to be heat-sealed on the mouth of a product package and extractable therefrom when opening, and a method for manufacturing same. The cover is appropriate particularly for dosage packages of foodstuffs, such as milk, yogurt, juices and fruit syrups, desserts, etc., or for drug packages. The cover is made of paper (5) which is provided with polymer coating layers (6) on the undersurface, comprising a formally polymer binding agent layer and a heat-sealable polymer layer of an oxygen-tight, non-puncturable support layer, enabling extraction of the cover when opening the package. The essential feature in the invention lies therein that the support layer includes, as described above, a polymer component of high degree of crystallization and amorphous polymer component, wherewith the curling of the cover is prevented. Production of the cover (4) is accomplished with simultaneous extrusion of the polymer layers (6).

  • Patent number: 5738933
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-layer product, in particular for producing containers, comprising a layer formed of a fiber-based packing material on one surface of which a gas-tight multi-layer plastic coating is arranged. To prevent the formation of microholes, the gas-tight multi-layer plastic coating is formed of superposed 1-4 g/m.sup.2 barrier plastic layer, 1-4 g/m.sup.2 binder layer, and surface layer of a heat-sealable polyolefin material having sufficient thickness for liquid-tight heat sealing, so that the barrier plastic layer is the closest of said layers to the fiber-based packing material layer.
