  • Patent number: 5133507
Abstract: A two-stage procedure is disclosed for sorting wood chips. The chips are directed to a gyratory screen in the first stage and to a disc screen in the second stage. The chip flow is divided in the first stage into four fractions of which the first fraction contains mainly oversized chips and is directed to a pin chipper, from which it emerges as suitable-sized chips and is directed back to the gyratory screen of the first stage. The second fraction contains acceptable sized chips and most of the overthick chips and is directed to the second or thickness screening stage. The third fraction consists mainly of acceptable chips and is directed to a pulping process, while the fourth fraction consists mainly of fine particles and is directed to a burning station.

  • Patent number: 4774987
Abstract: An apparatus for feeding roundwood into a rotating debarking drum through the inlet end of the barking drum utilizing a conveyor. The prior method presents the drawback that it is not possible, with a single feed device, to feed into the barking drum roundwood of different lengths but only either long, intermediate-sized or short logs. With the present invention, this problem has been solved in that the logs are positively fed by the conveyor, at low speed, into the lower part of the barking drum, through a feed cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4732523
Abstract: A ship unloading mechanism has an endless, vertically operating compartmented belt conveyor by which material to be lifted is transported from a ship's hold at the lower end of the conveyor onto a horizontal conveyor at the top end of the conveyor, when the material is further transported e.g. onto a quayside conveyor, etc. At the lower end of the compartmented belt conveyor there is provided a material supplying device which has a vaned wheel, the vanes of which fling the material at high velocity from the hold into upwardly facing compartments of the compartmented belt conveyor.
