  • Patent number: 11552679
Abstract: Systems and methods relating to transmission and use of Discovery Reference Signal (DRS) signals are disclosed in herein. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a Transmission Point (TP) in a cellular communications network comprises transmitting, from the TP, a same one or more DRS signals using at least two different transmit beams in at least two different time resources. Each transmit beam is characterized by a direction in which it is transmitted. In this manner, the TP is enabled to reuse DRS resources, which in turn enables transmission of DRS signals on a larger number of transmit beams and, correspondingly, adaptation of measurement procedures at wireless devices to obtain measurements on those transmit beams.

  • Publication number: 20220417928
Abstract: A base station is configured to transmit user data to a wireless device upon a first carrier. The base station identifies, from a set of transmission resources that is nominally allocated for transmission of user data upon the first carrier, a subset of transmission resources that is also nominally allocated for transmission of a reference or control signal either by the base station upon a second carrier or by a neighboring base station upon the first carrier. The base station selectively transmits user data to the wireless device upon the first carrier exclusive of this identified subset of transmission resources. The device in some embodiments obtains information indicating that the base station is selectively transmitting user data upon the first carrier exclusive of the subset in this way. Based on this information, the device recovers user data received upon the first carrier exclusive of the subset of transmission resources.

  • Publication number: 20220407576
Abstract: Systems and methods for early Channel State Information (CSI) feedback in New Radio (NR) are provided. In embodiments of the disclosure, CSI reporting is performed during a random access procedure to provide early CSI feedback and enable more efficient data transmission with higher spectral efficiency in earlier communications. In some examples, CSI reporting can be reported on Message 3 of the random access procedure after measuring channel and/or interference on a CSI Reference Signal (RS) (CSI-RS) during the random access procedure. The proposed solution allows early CSI to be triggered when a User Equipment (UE) performs initial access to a serving cell. With the early CSI acquired, the network can perform proper link adaptation including Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) precoding, and ensure efficient data transmission without having to wait until connection setup and configuration of the CSI framework is established.

  • Patent number: 11523410
Abstract: In some embodiments, a network (e.g., a TRP) provides to a UE information indicating that a transmitted “first” RS resource (or “RS” for short) is quasi-co-located (QCL) with a scheduled transmission for the UE (e.g., a “second” RS). The UE may then receive the scheduled transmission under an assumption that the scheduled transmission (e.g., a second RS, such as a demodulation RS (DMRS)) is QCL with the first RS. The UE may receive such QCL information before, after or while receiving the first RS.

  • Patent number: 11515912
Abstract: A network node signals to a wireless communication device which precoders in a codebook are restricted from being used. The network node in this regard generates codebook subset restriction signaling that, for each of one or more groups of precoders, jointly restricts the precoders in the group by restricting a certain component (e.g., a certain beam precoder) that the precoders in the group have in common. This signaling may be for instance rank-agnostic signaling that jointly restricts the precoders in a group without regard to the precoders' transmission rank. Regardless, the network node sends the generated signaling to the wireless communication device.
