  • Patent number: 6999775
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of controlling load in a mobile communication system in a system in which mobile stations include means for utilizing discontinuous transmission. In order to utilize the traffic capacity of the system more efficiently than before, at least one mobile station is equipped with regulation means for regulating its parameters related to discontinuous transmission, and a control signal is transmitted via a radio path to the at least one mobile station for regulating its parameters related to discontinuous transmission in such a manner that the mobile station transmits telecommunication signals to the other parts of the system more seldom or more often.

  • Patent number: 6738374
Abstract: Speech is transmitted between a base station (BTS) and a TRAU by converting a speech signal into a parameter group which is inserted in a traffic frame which is transmitted as a packet comprising a header and a payload. In accordance with the invention, the payload is formed of the contents of several traffic frames until the payload is essentially full, and a packet is sent to the destination via the transmission network. At the destination the traffic frames are separated from the payload of the received packets and they are passed to a speech decoder. The packing of packets full can be started about a second after the beginning of the connection and after pauses, in which case the ending of a pause is transmitted to the listener as fast as possible.

  • Patent number: 6684068
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for transmitting a message to a mobile station, which method comprises the steps of: storing a predetermined message in a memory means, and specifying a receiver for the message stored, the receiver consisting of one or more mobile stations. In order to improve user-frieidliness associated with transmission of messages, the method comprises the steps of: specifying an area corresponding to the message stored, monitoring the location of the receiver specified for the message, and retrieving said message from the memory means and transmitting it to the user of a receiving mobile station when the receiving mobile station arrives in said area.

  • Patent number: 6542501
Abstract: A digital mobile communication network and a switching system for a digital mobile communication network are provided. A traffic frame may include speech signals converted into a parameter group by a speech encoder and, as a whole, may be inserted into a payload part of a data packet. The data packet can be sent to a destination via a transmission network. At the destination, the traffic frame is separated from the payload of the received data packet and the traffic frame is passed to a transcoder unit for restoring the original speech signal. The transmission network can be an asynchronous transfer mode network and the data packet can be an asynchronous transfer mode cell.

  • Patent number: 6233458
Abstract: In a re-routing procedure according to the invention, in-stead of establishing a new connection, the context information is modified only in those network elements which the change in routing concerns. The necessary context information about the connection is loaded to the new network element. Additionally, the other network elements participating the connection are informed of the change of the network element.
