  • Publication number: 20050229438
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with ice scrapers having a tubular shaft and a blade made of spring sheet steel. The use of spring steel provides an ice scraper blade that is strong, thin and flexible, which makes it easier to lift frozen snow and ice off of sidewalks and driveways. The blade is preferably rectangular although other shapes such as trapezoidal and semi-circular may be used. The shaft comprises a compressible rubber bulb as a handle to absorb the compressible shock forces as the ice scraper is being used. An alternate embodiment of the present invention includes a deflector mounted above the blade similar to a snow scoop that directs pieces of snow and ice forward as they are lifted of the sidewalk or driveway.

  • Publication number: 20050017525
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with an auxiliary handle assembly having a rotatable handgrip for hand tools having a longitudinal shaft such as rakes, forks, hooks, cultivators, hoes, shovels, scoops, spoons, scrapers, edgers, brooms and floor squeegees. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the auxiliary handle assembly is an inverted U-shaped rod having two legs and a handle portion, whereupon the lower ends of the legs are pivotally attached to the tool head of the hand tool. Alternatively, the handle assembly may comprise a single leg that is pivotally attached to the tool head. In the preferred embodiment, each leg of the handle assembly is capable of adjusting in length. When the hand tool is to be put away for storage, or when it is more convenient to use the tool in a conventional manner, a handle clip temporarily secures the handgrip of the handle assembly to the shaft of the hand tool.

  • Publication number: 20050017524
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a two-handled shovel for use in lifting or moving heavy loads, such as snow. The present invention comprises a snow shovel having a second handle assembly pivotally attached to the blade of the shovel. The assembly is an inverted U-shaped element having two legs and a handle grip. Each handle of the shovel has a rotatable hand grip that allows a person to keep their wrists stationary when lifting or moving snow. The second handle assembly further comprises means for adjusting the length of the legs to suit the person using the shovel.

  • Publication number: 20050000129
Abstract: The present invention is a notice sign for mounting on a standard mailbox having a convex upper or top surface. The notice sign has a vertical planar member that has a flat surface suitable for bearing a printed message. The vertical planar member has a lower mounting surface for attaching to the sidewall of the mailbox. The notice sign also comprises an upper support member extending from the upper edge of the planar member that further comprises an upper mounting surface for attaching to the convex top surface of the mailbox. The notice sign is preferably attached to the mailbox using strips of double-sided tape although it may also be attached using threaded fasteners passing through the planar member into the sidewall of the mailbox.
