  • Patent number: 4614240
Abstract: A multi-blade soil handling unit comprising a frame having rearward and forward ends with a pivotal hitch mounted on the forward end of the frame for connection to a prime mover. A transversely extending axle is mounted on the frame and is provided with a pair of ground engaging wheels on opposite ends thereof. A front blade is mounted on the frame forwardly of the wheels and a rear blade is mounted on the frame rearwardly of the ground engaging wheels. A second hydraulic cylinder is connected to the axle and the hitch to pivot the hitch with respect to the frame to permit the selective shifting of weight between the front and rear blades. The blades are normally disposed at opposing angles and are each individually angularly adjusted with respect to the frame and are each laterally adjustable with respect to the frame. The ends of each of the blades may also be raised or lowered by means of shims.

  • Patent number: 4392695
Abstract: A bearing is described for use with a disc harrow including means for preventing dust from entering the interior thereof. The bearing comprises inner and outer bearing rings having a plurality of spaced apart ball bearings mounted therebetween. First and second ring shaped seals are positioned between the inner and outer bearing rings at the opposite sides thereof. First and second ringshaped shroud caps embrace the first and second seals, respectively, for maintaining the seals in position. A sealant material is positioned between the inner and outer bearing rings at each side thereof so as to prevent soil from entering the interior of the bearing between the shroud caps and the outer bearing ring, and from reaching the primary bearing seal area.

  • Patent number: 4083413
Abstract: A spacer spool for a disc section of a disc harrow for preventing relative rotation between the spacer spools and the adjacent disc blades. Each of the spacer spools comprises a central portion having end portions extending outwardly from the opposite ends thereof. Each of the end portions is provided with an annular rim portion which is complimentary in shape to the adjacent disc blade. The center section of the spool is provided with a central opening for receiving an elongated shaft which is rotatably supported by the disc harrow frame. A lug is provided on each of the end portions of the spacer spool between the central opening and the annular rim portion. Each of the disc blades has a central opening formed therein for receiving the shaft and has a bolt opening formed therein spaced outwardly from the central opening. A bolt is positioned in each of the bolt openings and has its head positioned adjacent one side of the disc blade and a nut element positioned adjacent the other side of the disc blade.

  • Patent number: 4073345
Abstract: An apparatus for positively locking the wheels of a disc in transport and depth control positions. The disc harrow comprises a frame having disc sections thereto. A transversely extending axle is secured to the frame and has ground engaging wheels at the opposite ends thereof which control the discing depth and transport height. A hydraulic cylinder is secured at its forward base end to the frame and has the rearward end of its cylinder rod pivotally connected to the axle to raise and lower the wheels with respect to the frame. A spacer assembly slidably embraces the cylinder rod. A cylinder stroke lock assembly is pivotally connected, at its rearward end, to the rearward end of the cylinder rod for pivotal movement between a first horizontal position and a second upstanding position. The spacer assembly comprises a spacer tube and spacing washers. The spacing washers may be selectively moved with respect to the cylinder stroke lock assembly to permit depth control adjustment.
