    Abstract: A semiconductor device comprises an Si substrate (10) and a compound layer (11) of Si1-xGex disposed on the substrate (10). X is varied from 0 to 0.2 away from the substrate (10) towards the upper surface of the compound layer (11), with the rate of change of X increasing through the layer. The increasing rate of change of X significantly improves the defectivity levels and the surf ace roughness at the surf ace of layer (11).

    Abstract: A solution for removing a diffused aluminium coating from a component made of nickel or cobalt base high temperature alloy, consisting of Nitric Acid 57%, Sulphuric Acid 29% and Water 14%. The solution removes all but traces of nickel or cobalt-rich aluminides and does not attack the substrate material. If said traces have to be removed also, there is used an etching solution consisting of Ferric Chloride Solution 85%, Sulphuric Acid 10% and Hydrofluoric Acid 5%.
