  • Publication number: 20080058111
Abstract: A circular pool table comprises features that provide the player with a sensation of playing on a rectangular pool table. In particular, the circular pool table comprises a circular cushion whose geometry resembles that of the cushion of a rectangular pool table as specified by the Billiard Congress of America and/or World Pool-Billiard Association. The playing surface, rail, and pockets of the circular pool table mimic the features of a corresponding rectangular pool table. In particular, the slate including the cloth, the rail including the sub-rail, and the pockets including the pocket openings are configured so as to further convey the experience of playing on a recreational and/or tournament-qualified rectangular pool table.

  • Publication number: 20050183841
Abstract: A casting mold for an engine block and method for manufacturing the casting mold. In one embodiment, the casting mold includes a mold seat with a double-curved surface, and a cast-in cylinder liner. The cylinder liner has an axis and an end surface. The end surface is in tangential contact with the double-curved surface in a seated position prior to any thermal expansion of the cylinder liner. In various embodiments, the cylinder liner becomes slightly unseated upon thermal expansion.

  • Patent number: 4819000
Abstract: A scanning beam transmit antenna system includes a source of electromagnetic energy, radiating elements and a feed network connecting the source to the radiating elements. A beam steerer controls the phase of the electromagnetic energy at each of the radiating elements. Power dividers route the electromagnetic energy to each of the radiating elements, and switches control the flow of the electromagnetic energy among the power dividers. The beam steerer changes the phases of the energy emitted by the radiating elements as a function of time to cause sequentially a motion of the scanning beam in the "TO" direction and a motion of the scanning beam in the "FRO" direction, and the switches modify the flow of the electromagnetic energy through the power dividers to and among the radiating elements on one half of the linear array during the "TO" motion of the scanning beam and to the radiating elements on the other half of the linear array during the "FRO" motion of the scanning beam.

  • Patent number: 4764740
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reflection diode phase shifter that achieves amplitude equality between phase shifts of incident energy. Amplitude equality is achieved by placing a resistor R to ground in parallel with the transmission lines connecting a four-port coupler to symmetric reflection terminators having an impedance that is varied by a diode. The resistor is placed at a point on the transmission line having the lowest voltage when the greatest power loss is realized by the phase shifter.

  • Patent number: 4235602
Abstract: In the illustrative embodiments of the invention disclosed, an installation for mixing and separating two non-miscible liquids includes, inter alia, an improved pump structure for raising the liquid dispersion from the mixing tank to the inlet level to the decanting tank, a low flat chute for conveying the dispersion from the mixing tank to the remote end of the decanting tank, height-controlling means for controlling the level of the interphase within the decanting tank, and provision for recycling the lighter liquid phase to the mixing tank.
