Publication number: 20120248803Abstract: A vacuum device for a material handling system includes a vacuum device body and a sealing element. The vacuum device body has a vacuum passageway in which a vacuum is generated in response to activation of a pressurized air supply that forces pressurized air through a venturi device. The sealing element moves to a sealing position to substantially seal the vacuum passageway when the air supply is activated, and is urged toward the sealing position via pressurized air that is diverted from an inlet of the vacuum device to the sealing element. The sealing element moves to substantially vent the vacuum passageway when the air supply is deactivated. The vacuum passageway may be in fluid communication with a vacuum cup, which seals against the object when the sealing element is at the sealing position and the vacuum generating device generates at least a partial vacuum in the vacuum passageway.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2012Publication date: October 4, 2012Applicant: Delaware Capital Formation, Inc.Inventors: Maurice Perlman, Keith S. Attee

Publication number: 20120193500Abstract: A suction cup assembly has a housing with an actuator in the housing. A flexible cup is coupled with the housing. The actuator movement causes the flexible cup to move between at least two positions. In a first position, the flexible cup moves into an increased volume position. In a second position, the flexible cup moves into at least a neutral volume position. In the increased volume position, the flexible cup seals with a surface. In the neutral volume position, the flexible cup releases from the surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2011Publication date: August 2, 2012Applicant: Delaware Capital Formation, Inc.Inventors: Jason M. Kniss, Maurice Perlman, James Geary, Orlando Trujillo, Gary R. Michels, Jeffrey J. Mruzik

Patent number: 8096598Abstract: A material handling system has a vacuum cup assembly engagable with an object and movable to move the object using a pressurized air source, a vacuum cup, a venturi device and a vacuum valve and auto-release valve. The venturi device is in fluid communication with the vacuum cup and connected to the supply line so that pressurized air can be supplied to and through said venturi device to generate a partial vacuum when the perimeter seal of the vacuum cup is engaged with the object surface. The vacuum valve may open and close the supply line at a location upstream of the venturi device in response to a pressure level at the vacuum cup cavity. The auto-release valve may vent the vacuum cup cavity to atmosphere in response to reduced pressure in the supply line at a location upstream from the vacuum valve.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2008Date of Patent: January 17, 2012Assignee: Delaware Capital Formation, Inc.Inventor: Maurice Perlman

Patent number: 7309089Abstract: A vacuum cup for a material handling system includes a body portion and a perimeter seal that functions to substantially seal against an object. The vacuum cup may transport the object when a partial vacuum is applied to the vacuum cup to retain the cup to the object. The vacuum cup includes a relief port and sealing member that function to at least partially relieve the vacuum from the vacuum cup to allow the vacuum cup to be detached from the object with a reduced force, even while the vacuum is applied. Patent number: 6386786Abstract: A clamp that is particularly suitable for automated manufacturing or assembly environments, such as on a transfer press, includes a first and a second clamp which engage each other via a joint. The joint is adapted to allow the first and second clamps to both pivot and rotate with respect to each other. A third clamp fits over the joint and selectively secures the first and second clamps in a desired orientation when the third clamp is tightened. The joint may be a ball and socket joint.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: Delaware Capital Formation, Inc.Inventors: Maurice Perlman, Don Hufford

Patent number: 6182491Abstract: A tool mount for mounting tool assemblies on a transfer press, or other type of automated assembly line, includes a bayonet which can be selectively inserted into a receiver mounted on the transfer press rail. The receiver includes a generally tapered channel which receives a tapered portion of the bayonet. The receiver and the bayonet thereby form a dove tail type of junction. The direction of taper is oriented such that the bayonet must be inserted from the back end of the receiver and pushed forwardly to secure it therein. A lock selectively secures the bayonet within the receiver. The lock includes a latch that engages a first cam surface to push the bayonet inwardly into the receiver and thereby prevent it from being removed, while simultaneously insuring a tight fit between the receiver and the bayonet. The lock latch further engages a second cam surface of the bayonet when the bayonet is to be removed from the receiver.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1999Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Assignee: CPI Products, L.C.Inventors: Maurice Perlman, Don Hufford
