    Abstract: A microbiological medium suitable for sterilization by ionizing radiation is prepared containing an electron acceptor that reduces adverse changes in the medium during ionizing radiation and increases the degree of ionization caused by ionizing radiation whereby a greater number of microorganisms is destroyed. A preferred electron acceptor is a combination of NADH and NAD or a combination of NADH and pyridoxine hydrochloride.
