  • Publication number: 20050006310
Abstract: A fluid purification and recovery system includes a buffer section configured to receive a fluid delivered from a process station, where the fluid pressure is maintained within the buffer section within a predetermined range and the fluid is maintained within the buffer section in at least one of a gas state, a liquid state and a supercritical state. The system further includes a purification section disposed downstream from the buffer section to receive the fluid from the buffer section, where the purification section includes at least one purification unit that separates at least a portion of at least one component from the fluid. In one embodiment, the fluid is maintained in at least one of a liquid state and a supercritical state in both the buffer section and the purification section. In addition, the buffer section delivers the fluid to the purification with minimal or substantially no fluctuations in pressure.

  • Patent number: 6451612
Abstract: Method for the determination of a level of treatment with ozone of a liquid to be treated, comprising the steps of: a) storing the liquid to be treated, the liquid having at least one of an initial dissolved oxidant and ozone content of Ci; b) manufacturing an ozonized water mother solution with a given and constant content of dissolved ozone Cm; c) withdrawing a volume Vm of the mother solution and admixing it with a sample of the stored liquid with a volume of Vi; d) measuring at least one of the content Cf of dissolved residual oxidants and dissolved ozone in the sample after admixture with the volume Vm of the mother solution, immediately after at least one of addition and at predetermined, regular or irregular time intervals after the addition; e) determining the level of treatment to be applied to the liquid as a function of the value of the quantity Cf-Ci.

  • Patent number: 4678549
Abstract: A process for producing amino alcohols by electrosynthesis of nitro alcohols.Reduction of the nitro group is performed in three stages on a cathode made of a material having a strong hydrogen overpotential. During the second stage of reduction, the electronegative potential is higher, and in the last stage the sulfuric solution of amino alcohol obtained is subjected to a purification operation by electro-electrodialysis (EED), followed by an elimination of water. The process is particularly useful for the production of 2-nitro-2-methyl-1-propanol, 2-nitro-2-methyl-1, 3-propanediol, 2-nitro-2-ethyl-1, 3-propanediol, 2-nitro-1-butanol, tris(hydroxymethyl) nitromethane.

  • Patent number: 4310394
Abstract: A process for preparing peroxydisulfates by electrolysis in a diaphragm cell uses a diaphragm, the active part of which comprises a cation exchange polymer made up of a membrane with a sulfonated polystyrene base resin supported by a polypropylene fabric. The process is applicable to the preparation of peroxydisulfates of alkali metals and of ammonium.
