  • Publication number: 20070289522
Abstract: The invention is an improved apparatus for body motion steering control for water craft powered by an outboard motor. A swivel seat is co-axially mounted to a single swivel permitting rotation of the seat about a first vertical axis. There is engagement/disengagement means mounted to the backrest of the seat. Transmission means comprises a first, second and third transmission members connected between the engagement/disengagement means and the outboard motor. The swivel seat is easily removed from the vessel by way of a pinned hinge. Safety features are incorporated which prevent over steering of the vessel when in the body motion steering mode.

  • Patent number: 6935261
Abstract: An apparatus for steering control of water craft by operator body motion commands. The craft is powered by an outboard motor having a first vertical axis. The water craft has a swivel seat co-axially mounted to first and second swivel bodies permitting rotation of the seat about a second vertical axis. There is a first control member-mounted between the seat and the first swivel body and a second control member mounted between the first and second swivel bodies. A connecting member connects the second control member to the outboard motor so that when a pin couples the first and second control members together the apparatus is engaged and swivel seat is able to transmit body motion steering commands via the connecting member to the outboard motor.

  • Publication number: 20040139901
Abstract: The invention is an apparatus for body motion steering control for water craft powered by an outboard motor. A swivel seat is co-axially mounted to a first and second swivel body permitting rotation of the seat about a first vertical axis. There is a first control member is mounted to the seat and the first swivel body and there is a second control member is mounted between and to the first and second swivel bodies. A sliding pin is mounted in a sleeve to the first control member. The pin is able to engage the second control member thereby stopping rotation between the first and second swivels. There is a rod between the second control member and the outboard motor. When the pin is engaged into the second control member, the rotation of the seat is directed into the second control member. As the seat rotates, the rod member is able to pull or push one side of the outboard motor thereby transmitting steering commands to the outboard motor.
