    Abstract: A protective apparatus for use in medical and dental procedures to prevent exposure and exchange of harmful substances between an area isolated by the apparatus and the environment of use. The apparatus includes a physical shield, a vacuum barrier, and an adjustable support frame. The apparatus further includes a vacuum connector for connecting the apparatus to a vacuum source, a vacuum conduit for flow communicating with the air around the perimeter of the physical shield such that the vacuum source draws air along with solid and liquid matter entrained in the air into the vacuum conduit, and a plurality of vacuum apertures located along the vacuum conduit for communicating the vacuum source with the air. The apparatus provides protection for persons in proximity to a source of harmful substances such as aerosols derived from patients infected with viruses or the like and more in particular corona viruses.

    Abstract: An accessory device for a circuit breaker. The device includes a housing having a top wall and a hinge portion. The device also includes a plunger arm that extends from the hinge portion to form a cantilever wherein the plunger arm includes a first surface and a sloped surface. The plunger arm is moveable between an initial position wherein the plunger arm does not activate the first and second switches located in the housing and a deflected position wherein the first and sloped surfaces simultaneously contact the first and second switches, respectively, thereby activating the first and second switches. The plunger arm also includes a plunger portion that is oriented transverse to the plunger arm. A mating surface is formed on the plunger portion that mates with a mating surface of a circuit breaker operating mechanism. Further, the housing, hinge portion, plunger arm, and plunger portion are integrally formed.

    Abstract: A shunt trip device for a circuit breaker having a trip bar for tripping the circuit breaker. The device includes a housing having a slot and a bottom wall having a pivot pocket. The device also includes a lever arm having a lever projection portion and a pivot portion. The pivot portion is located in the pivot pocket to enable rotation of the lever arm in the slot about a lever rotation axis between first and second positions. When the lever arm is in the second position, the lever projection portion moves the trip bar and trips the circuit breaker. The device further includes an actuation device that moves the lever arm to the second position. The pivot portion and pivot pocket form a configuration that increases a perpendicular distance between a force generated by the actuation device and the lever rotation axis.

    Abstract: Functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) imaging is utilized to measure the influence of stimulation in real time. An fNIRS imaging device is integrated into a transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) stimulator by embedding fNIRS optodes on the tDCS stimulating electrodes. During tDCS stimulation, blood oxygenation levels are measured. For example, concentrations of oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin are measured and compared to the concentrations of a baseline resting state to provide feedback on the efficacy of tDCS. Based on the feedback, a tDCS threshold and a dose-response relation for a particular subject can be quantified, and individualized stimulation parameters can be determined for the particular subject.

When the circuit breaker is opened or closed the operating mechanism moves a cross bar coupled to the contact arm. The cross bar moves the actuator lever of the switch changing the state of the switch.

The device includes a housing, a solenoid, upper and lower actuators aligned with a plunger of the solenoid and in selective contact with the trip bar, plunger and actuator reset levers mounted upon the solenoid frame, and pair of terminals in electrical contact with the solenoid coil and line terminals of the breaker, wherein the force of the solenoid corresponds to the line voltage. Also disclosed is a method for tripping a circuit breaker when line voltage drops below a selected value, in a circuit breaker having an operating mechanism and a trip unit with an intermediate latch.
