  • Publication number: 20060141046
Abstract: Formulations of active agent particles of less than 100 microns in a droplet of dispersant, which is coated with a matrix of cationic and anionic polymers, are efficient vehicles for delivering active agents to tissues such as skin and mucosal membranes. Such formulations are able to deliver compounds to skin with little associated irritation. Prior art topical formulations typically have the disadvantage of causing significant skin irritation.

  • Publication number: 20040247632
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there are provided high viscosity chitosan-based topical compositions for the delivery of water insoluble active agents (such as retinoic acid) in which the active agent is entrapped either dissolved or in the form of suspended particles in a suitable dispersing agent in a chitosan matrix under vigorous stirring conditions. The chitosan matrix containing the active ingredient is then mixed in the presence of an aqueous anionic polymeric solution at pH greater than 6.0 such as to cause precipitation under vigorous stirring conditions of the chitosan matrix in the form of microparticles.

  • Patent number: 4176791
Abstract: An irrigation system of the type comprising a plurality of nozzles spaced along a pipeline fed at one end from a source of supply of irrigation liquid, which latter may be purely water or may be water with additives, in which in order to avoid different spray rates due to a loss in pressure along the pipeline each nozzle is provided with a valve and an associated resilient subsidiary reservoir, the valves operating to close off the nozzles while all the subsidiary reservoirs charge up to the line pressure and then, when a control valve diverts the source of supply to a discharge outlet all the nozzles receive liquid in the same pressure from their associated subsidiary reservoir; when the subsidiary reservoirs are all back at atmospheric pressure the cycle recommences.

  • Patent number: 4114376
Abstract: Servo-assisted hydraulic braking system of the type in which brake pedal pressure is reinforced by a pressure dependent thereon and fed to a master cylinder driving piston by a distributor device which is fed with fluid under pressure from a pressure source and control pressure from control chambers defined by plungers within the master cylinder itself, which plungers are displaced directly or indirectly by the displacement of the driving piston of the master cylinder. The distributor plungers are balanced so that for a given brake pedal pressure they feed through a certain reinforcing pressure and then close off the driving piston chamber from the pressure source, locking in the reinforcing pressure so far applied, so that variations in the pressure generated by the pressure generating device are not fed back to the brake pedal via the driving piston of the master cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4033638
Abstract: A hydro-dynamic brake system of the type having a volumetric pump circulating brake fluid to a reservoir, and a modulating valve in the output of the pump acting under the control of the brake pedal to constrict the pipeline thereby increasing the pressure at the output of the pump. This pressure is fed to a distributor controlled by a solenoid valve and also receiving an input directly from a master cylinder which is also controlled by the brake pedal. Each wheel has a speed sensor feeding a processing and control circuit which produces an output signal to a solenoid valve which controls various transfer ports of the distributor. The distributor has a series of cylindrical cavities housing pistons which control valves in passages linking the chambers into which each cavity is separated by its piston.

  • Patent number: 3947073
Abstract: An anti-skid braking system which includes a throttle control arrangement associated with the throttle plate located in the induction manifold for opening the plate upon operation of the anti-skid system in order to compensate for the braking effect of the engine initiated upon release of the accelerator pedal. The throttle arrangement includes a solenoid-controlled vacuum actuator and a piston connected to the throttle plate through a lever system.
