  • Patent number: 6196300
Abstract: A heat sink comprising a conductive plate (1) to be applied onto the surface to be cooled, the thickness of which gradually increases from the edges (4) towards a central portion (5) according to a curvilinear profile (6) having an upwardly turned concavity, so that an air flow hitting the plate is deflected towards its edges with a substantially horizontal outlet direction. The conductive plate (1) has preferably arranged thereon a plurality of cooling fins (7) extending in a substantially radial way from the central portion (5) to the edges (4) of the plate.

  • Patent number: 4963726
Abstract: Apparatus for optically reading data by transverse orthogonal scanning of a moving rectangular flat information carrier, such as a card. The apparatus includes a driver for advancing the carrier. The driver has two drive wheels and two cooperating idle rollers, the axes of which all lie in the vertical transverse main plane. Each drive wheel is independently driven by a separate electric stepper motor independently connected to control logic. By using independent stepper motors, the driver is able to straighten carriers not perfectly aligned as they enter the apparatus, and to permit reading of poorly printed carriers, achieving a high resolution even with mechanical components of conventional quality.

  • Patent number: 4543513
Abstract: The control of a quantity (voltage, phase) relating to a generator-motor pair in an electric power station is accomplished by generating a pulse sequence associated with the quantity to be controlled, generating a predetermined reference pulse sequence and detecting the relative phase shift between the two pulse sequences. This phase shift, or an integrated value of a number of successive phase shifts, controls a double ramp generator, the sign and slope of which are proportional to the detected phase shift. The integrated signal is employed to vary the magnetic induction of the rotor, i.e., field excitation of the generator, to balance the system.
