Abstract: It is disclosed a method and system for managing a home gateway with mobile connectivity to a WAN, wherein a management server activates the home gateway only if its current position matches a location to which use of the home gateway shall be bound as selected by the user. In order to select such location, a client application executed by the personal mobile device of the user requests the user to place the personal mobile device next to the home gateway and detect its own current position. The client application then requests the user to confirm that the detected current position of the personal mobile device is the location to which use of the home gateway shall be bound. The detected current position of the personal mobile device is then sent to the management server, which uses it to determine whether the home gateway may be activated.

Abstract: A method and system for managing a mobile device entering a wireless coverage area of a home gateway connected to a WAN through a mobile communication network is provided. As the mobile device connects to the home gateway via its wireless interface, the home gateway requests an onloading token for the mobile device from a management server cooperating with the mobile communication network. A mobile telephone terminal is associated to a subscriber card storing subscriber identification information. According to the method of the present invention, at least the subscriber identification information and preferably also subscriber authentication information are transferred from the mobile telephone terminal to an office electronic apparatus when the said mobile telephone terminal is in proximity of the office electronic apparatus, the transferred information is stored into the apparatus card of the office electronic apparatus, and the service is autonomously used or provided by the office electronic apparatus by means of the transferred information.

Abstract: A method for mutual authentication between a subscriber and a communications network, in which a random number is generated at the subscriber's terminal. The random number is sent to the authentication sub-system managing the authentication of the subscriber for the access to the network, e.g., together with a subscriber's identifier. At the authentication sub-system, the identifier is used for checking the credentials of the subscriber. During the authentication process, parameters related to the subscriber's identifier are generated at the authentication sub-system, and the random number is encrypted using a session key formed using such parameters. The encrypted random number is then sent back to the subscriber's terminal, together with information needed to terminal in order to reconstruct the session key. After having reconstructed the session key, the subscriber's terminal decrypts the random number and checks matching with its generated random number.

The random number is sent to the authentication sub-system managing the authentication of the subscriber for the access to the network, e.g., together with a subscriber's identifier. At the authentication sub-system, the identifier is used for checking the credentials of the subscriber. During the authentication process, parameters related to the subscriber's identifier are generated at the authentication sub-system, and the random number is encrypted using a session key formed using such parameters. The encrypted random number is then sent back to the subscriber's terminal, together with information needed to terminal in order to reconstruct the session key. After having reconstructed the session key, the subscriber's terminal decrypts the random number and checks matching with its generated random number.
