  • Patent number: 9162729
Abstract: A right crank arm assembly for a bicycle, comprises a right crank arm, a first annular element directly coupled with said crank arm at at least one first coupling portion of said first annular element and at least one second annular element coupled with said crank arm and of a smaller size than said first annular element. The first annular element comprises a toothing that extends radially towards the outside along a primitive circumference having a predetermined diameter. Said at least one first coupling portion is entirely contained in a first area extending radially towards the outside starting from an ideal circumference having a diameter at least equal to ? of said predetermined diameter. Such an annular element constitutes the front sprocket of the crank arm assembly of the present invention and consists of a simple toothed band. Such a front sprocket is particularly light in weight.

  • Patent number: 8770061
Abstract: A crank assembly for a bicycle's bottom bracket assembly comprises a shaft extending along a longitudinal axis, at least one crank arm associated with at least one free end of said shaft, first front coupling means formed on said shaft and second front coupling means formed on said at least one crank arm, said first and second front coupling means being coupled together. In particular, the aforementioned first and second front coupling means comprise respective front toothings. The front coupling is located in an end zone, or on the outside, of a bottom bracket assembly's shaft's housing box formed in the bicycle's frame. The front coupling introduces a structural discontinuity between crank arm and shaft, for which reason the bending load exerted on the crank arm during pedaling is transmitted to the shaft to a small degree. Such a structural discontinuity is located at the shaft/crank arm interface.

  • Publication number: 20130291678
Abstract: A right crank arm assembly for a bicycle, comprises a right crank arm and at least one front sprocket coupled with the crank arm at at least one coupling portion of the crank arm. The front sprocket has an inner side adapted, in use, to face towards the frame of the bicycle and an outer side opposite the inner side. The assembly comprises at least one first crank arm element which acts in contact with the front sprocket on one of said sides and at least one second crank arm element which acts in contact with the front sprocket on the other of said sides. The contact action of the crank arm elements on the two opposite sides of the front sprocket prevents the twisting deformation of the front sprocket during pedaling. Such a deformation would cause a reduction in the transmission efficiency of the right crank arm assembly.

  • Patent number: 8029396
Abstract: A derailleur including an articulated quadrilateral mechanism, having four parallel articulation axes is provided. At a first articulation axis, between a fixed member and a first connecting rod, the fixed member includes a first forked structure embracing the first connecting rod. The first forked structure includes two opposite flanges having respective holes aligned along the first articulation axis, and the first connecting rod includes a hole aligned with the first articulation axis. A pin is inserted through the two holes of the first forked structure and the first connecting rod. • Publication number: 20090042679
Abstract: An assembly of toothed wheels of a bicycle has at least two toothed wheels of different diameter and at least one support member of at least one toothed wheel of the at least two toothed wheels on a component of a bicycle, like for example a free body of a hub for a rear bicycle wheel. The at least one support member is at least partially housed in at least one cavity of at least one other toothed wheel of the at least two toothed wheels. In this way, the distance between the toothed wheels is lower than the thickness of the support member of the toothed wheels themselves. The support member can thus maintain a strong resistant section at the attachment area to the respective toothed wheel. At the same time, it is possible to mount a greater number of sprockets on a free body of standard size.
