Patent number: 11640483Abstract: A configurable hardware device comprises a configuration memory of a known total size, and a configurable fabric arranged for being configured according to information from the configuration memory and segmented in a static partition and at least one dynamic partition. A static partition is arranged for receiving a bit stream and a cryptographic nonce and comprises a read/write mechanism for interacting with the configuration memory. The received bit stream is stored in the configuration memory and used to configure an intended application in the dynamic partition. The static partition is arranged for computing, based on the cryptographic nonce, a checksum of the entire configuration memory and for outputting the checksum.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2019Date of Patent: May 2, 2023Assignees: UNIVERSITÀ DEGLI STUDI DI PADOVA, KATHOLIEKE UNIVERSITEIT LEUVENInventors: Md Masoom Rabbani, Mauro Conti, Nele Mentens, Jo Vliegen

Patent number: 10387645Abstract: A method to recognize whether a user of an electronic terminal is a human or a robot is described. This method provides to take an image and decompose the image in a multitude of image portions. The image portions are randomly visualized inside a test area of an electronic terminal. The method provides to detect the movement of a cursor inside the test area, and to move each image portion inside the test area according to a trajectory which depends on the position of the cursor inside the test area. When the cursor is in a solution position inside the test area, the image portions combine into the original image. The coordinates of the solution position are randomly generated, and to these coordinates is associated a solution area which comprises the coordinates of the solution position. In order to recognize if a user of an electronic terminal is a human or a robot, the method tests if the cursor position is inside the solution area when the user inputs a control signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2015Date of Patent: August 20, 2019Assignee: UNIVERSITA' DEGLI STUDI DI PADOVAInventors: Mauro Conti, Claudio Guarisco, Riccardo Spolaor

Patent number: 10352980Abstract: An embodiment method of detecting an arc fault includes communicating a power line signal, including a communication signal modulated on an alternating current power signal, over a power line. The communication signal is communicated according to a power line network protocol. A power spectrum of the communication signal includes a first frequency band and a second frequency band different from the first frequency band. In accordance with the power line network protocol, a power of the communication signal in the first frequency band is attenuated in comparison to the power of the communication signal in the second frequency band. The method further includes performing arc fault detection on the spectral portions of the power line signal that are within the first frequency band.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2018Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignees: STMICROELECTRONICS S.R.L., STMICROELECTRONICS, INC.Inventors: Oleg Logvinov, Mauro Conti, Roberto Cappelletti

Patent number: 8660532Abstract: A user authentication method for access to a mobile user terminal including one or more movement sensor supplying information on movements of the mobile terminal, includes authenticating a user on the basis of a movement performed handling the mobile terminal. A test pattern of values is sensed by one or more movement sensor related to a movement performed in a predetermined condition corresponding to an action for operating the mobile terminal. In a biometric recognition phase the acquired test pattern is compared to a stored pattern of values obtained from the one or more movement sensor by a training phase executed by an accepted user performing the action for operating the mobile terminal. The comparison includes measuring a similarity of the acquired test pattern to stored pattern. An authentication result is obtained by comparing the measured similarity to a threshold.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2011Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Inventors: Mauro Conti, Bruno Crispo, Irina Zachia-Zlatea
