  • Publication number: 20030077016
Abstract: A suspension standard (10) for a motor vehicle has a cylindrical seat (11) for accommodating the outer, non-rotating race (13) of a wheel hub bearing (12). At least one body (16; 16′, 16″; 22) distinct from the standard (10) and the outer bearing race (13) has end portions (16a, 16b) extending in a radially outer direction on opposite sides (10a, 10b) of the standard so as to axially lock the bearing with respect to the standard.

  • Publication number: 20030012475
Abstract: A bearing and suspension standard assembly for a wheel of a motor vehicle comprises a standard (10) with a cylindrical seat (11) in which there is formed at least one circumferential groove (111, 112), and a bearing (12) with a stationary outer race (13) mounted in the seat (11). The outer surface of the outer race (13) has at least a cylindrical side portion of smaller diameter (133) joined to a greater diameter portion (131) by means of an inclined surface (137) facing an inclined or concave portion (117) of the groove (111, 112). An annular fastening element (21) is inserted between the smaller diameter side portion (133) and the seat (11). The annular element (21) has an end portion (213) forcedly inserted between the inclined surface (137) of the bearing and the inclined or concave facing portion (117) of the groove (111, 112) so as to oppose relative movements between the bearing and the standard in at least one axial direction.

  • Patent number: 6379050
Abstract: In a vehicle wheel hub bearing unit the bearing forms a rotating radial flange (11) adapted for securing to a radial flange (12) of a disc or drum brake member and rotate fixedly therewith. The brake flange (12) is located in the same radial plane of the bearing flange (11) and secured directly to the peripheral portion thereof. Radial bulk of the bearing assembly is reduced and deformation of the bearing races and braking surface is avoided.

  • Patent number: 6322253
Abstract: A motor vehicle wheel hub bearing comprises an outer race to be mounted in a cylindrical seat formed in a suspension strut and fixed in the seat by cold rolling. The outer race has an outer cylindrical surface to be fitted into the seat. The cylindrical surface extends over the whole axial dimension of the outer race and has a greater axial dimension than that of the strut. The two axially opposite ends of the cylindrical surface comprise respective axial tubular projections adapted to be deformed radially outwardly by cold forming towards respective opposite lateral surfaces of the strut so as to fix the bearing to the strut.

  • Patent number: 5957590
Abstract: In a sealing device for angular contact ball bearings comprises an outer race (20), a pair of inner adjacent half-races (30, 31) and two sets of balls (40, 41) interposed between the outer race (20) and the two inner half-races (30, 31), respectively. The sealing device is mounted to one (30) of the two inner half-races (30, 31) in an axially external position and comprises a body of resiliently yieldable material. The sealing device comprises a retaining lip (14) so shaped as to face a concave surface (22) fast with the outer race (20) and stop against said surface (22) to prevent the inner half-race (30) from coming off when not locked in its operation position yet.

  • Patent number: 5782565
Abstract: In a ball bearing for an automobile wheel hub comprising a double set of balls, the inner race is composed of two half-races to allow mounting of one of the two sets of balls. A first set of balls (2) is located between an outer race (3) and a facing portion of the hub (4). A second set of balls (5) is located between the outer race (3) and an inner half-race (6) fixed onto the hub (4). The inner half-race (6) is secured by an ring-like end portion (9) of the hub (4) folded by cold forming. A substantially flat washer (10) is interposed between said inner half-race (6) and the ring-like end portion (9).
