  • Patent number: 4132913
Abstract: A bobbin for carrying a field coil winding is made of molded plastic resin material having good electrical insulating characteristics and having an insulating channel formed in the hollow spindle portion thereof for carrying a fuse type or one-shot thermal protector. The bobbin flanges are thickened at either end of the insulating channel and sockets are formed in the flange thickened portion for carrying a quick-connect device which is generally U-shaped with slots in the legs adapted to engage coil end-wires when the device is forced into a socket. One end of the device carries a bent-over tongue adapted for locking engagement with the stripped end of an insulated lead-wire.

  • Patent number: 4071787
Abstract: A two part laminated stator in which a ring portion, bearing shading coils, has a pair of spaced parallel legs projecting therefrom, each leg end being adapted for a welded connection with a corepiece end, the corepiece being adapted to be inserted in an axially extending hole in a bobbin on which a coil has been wound. Each leg end and each polepiece end is shaped to have a complementary line of contact shaped for full line contact without interference as the corepiece, bearing the wound bobbin, and the leg ends are pressed together in opposite directions parallel to the line in which the legs project. The two parts and the laminations of each part are then secured together along a strip weld across the outer edge of the laminations at the outer end of the line of contact for each leg and each polepiece end.

  • Patent number: 3959675
Abstract: A coil bobbin for a sub-fractional horsepower motor is formed with a cavity in one flange opening outward from the flange rim, a partition dividing the cavity into two chambers. One chamber has a cross-sectional shape adapted to receive a thermal sensing device and the other has a cross-sectional shape adapted to receive an insulated terminal wire. The thermal device has a metal body as one terminal of the device and a projecting rectangular metal portion as the other terminal. One start wire of the coil is wound around or otherwise secured to the projecting terminal and the thermal device is inserted into one chamber from the open end. The partition is partially slotted and the stripped end of the lead wire is inserted in the other chamber from the other end, the stripped and bent-over end of the lead wire extending through the slot. As the thermal device is pushed into its chamber its metal body forces the stripped end against the partition and into electrical connection with the stripped end.
