  • Patent number: 9376291
Abstract: A crane apparatus and method are described for lifting a heavy load such as a wind-turbine generator unit 46 on to a wind-turbine tower 1. The crane is designed to climb up cables 3 attached to the top of the tower, carrying with it the cables 45 and lifting gear 31 which will be required for the main lifting operation. The crane comprises a pair of jib-frames 20 with boom arms 26, 27 which can be retracted during lifting and then deployed to a pivotable, loadbearing position once the crane is mounted at the top of the tower 1. Hydraulic strand jacks 31 and heavy-duty strands 45 are preferably used for the heavy lifting. In a preparation step, a load-bearing bracket assembly 13, 14, to which the jib-frames 20 will be secured, is hoisted up and fitted to the top of the tower 1. Once the lifting operations are complete, the crane assembly and the bracket assembly 13, 14 are lowered from the tower 1 and removed from site.

  • Patent number: 8869336
Abstract: An apparatus and method are proposed for incremental casting of concrete cantilever bridge sections. The main trusses which form the load-bearing frames of the apparatus are angularly splayed so that they are positioned outwards of the main load bearing webs of the to-be-constructed section of the bridge, while still being supported on the webs of the already-constructed section of the bridge. In this way, the region above and below the construction space is kept free for improved access.

  • Patent number: 5993282
Abstract: A component set for assembling toy cubes made up of a first member having a square bottom and square side walls extending from the edges of the bottom member in a direction normal thereto and a second member made up of a square lid and side walls extending similarly therefrom, the second member being of similar shape as the first member but dimensioned to fit into the cavity formed by the bottom and side walls. The first and second members are provided with recesses or slots extending from free edges thereof and protrusions to be received by the recesses or slots. When the second member is inserted into the first member the slots or other openings will form openings penetrating the center of each side wall. Some of the bottoms and lids have cylindrical protrusions extending from their center and dimensioned to fit into the openings, and some of the bottom and lids may have apertures similar to those in the side walls.

  • Patent number: 4357541
Abstract: A plurality of tubes (12, 13, 14) are arranged vertically in a closed row along a circle within a completely enclosed housing (1) provided with an inner radiation protection jacket (4). All the tubes (12, 13, 14) are connected as an assembled unit to a vertical shaft (17) which is mounted for rotation between a top plate (2) and a bottom plate (3) of the housing (1). A waste bag (18) can be inserted through an opening (8) in the top plate (2) into the tube (12) located at the time below same, into which bag radioactive waste (19) can be introduced also through the opening (8) which can be closed by a lid (9). Another opening (20) is provided in the bottom plate (3), it being located below the last tube (14) of the row in the intended direction of rotation of the unit. Thus, the bag (18) which is present in the corresponding tube (14) drops through said further opening (20) into a reception container (7) placed below it.
