  • Publication number: 20240093211
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the field of fermentation technology and microorganisms useful for such fermentations. The invention also relates to materials including nucleic acids and proteins useful for altering fermentation characteristics of microorganisms, and to microorganisms comprising such nucleic acids and/or proteins.

  • Patent number: 4607971
Abstract: In order to prevent expensive subsequent damage because of a shaft fracture in machines which are coupled together, one of the two shaft ends is provided outside of one coupling flange with a predetermined breaking point. At one coupling flange a safety element is mounted which extends past the axial length of the predetermined breaking point. The safety element can be constructed as a pin rotatably mounted inside the shaft end or as a safety ring mounted around the shaft end to hold a fractured shaft in the predetermined position until standstill without it being possible for the shaft to be deflected.

  • Patent number: 4309144
Abstract: A method and apparatus for counteracting an axial thrust imparted to a shaft of a fluid turbine is disclosed. The apparatus includes first and second shaft thrust plates affixed to the shaft. A first, stationary axial thrust bearing engages the first shaft thrust plate. A second axial thrust bearing, having components which are axially movable, engages the second shaft thrust plate. The apparatus also includes a system of fluid lines for supplying pressurized fluid to bellows-like thrust chambers in the second axial thrust bearing. The source of the pressurized fluid is fluid compressed by a compressor mounted on the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4267698
Abstract: To obtain uniform cooling of the wall (1) of a combustion chamber of a gas turbine, it is proposed to provide ridges (2) in the wall (1), with cooling-air nozzles (3) being inserted into the ridges. The cooling-air nozzles (3) thus do not project into the main gas stream and the cooling film can be guided in a rheologically favorable manner between the surface (11) which is to be cooled and the main gas stream.

  • Patent number: 4076452
Abstract: A stationary gas turbine plant in which a bearing for the bladed rotor is located at the exhaust end of the casing where the flow passage for the exhaust gas merges into an annular diffusor ring surrounding the bearing housing and which is established by radially spaced circular walls interconnected by means of an array of circumferentially spaced radially extending aero-foil shaped ribs. Two of these ribs extending divergently in a generally downward direction toward the foundation for the turbine are made hollow for the purpose of passing support struts through them, the upper ends of these struts being secured to the bearing housing and the lower ends of the struts being secured to the foundation. Additional supports are provided at opposite sides of the casing at the exhaust end, these supports also being secured to the foundation.

  • Patent number: 4050660
Abstract: A composite support structure for the casing of a rotary machine comprising coupled turbine and compressor units includes a pair of non-articulated multiple bar type pendulum supports upstanding on a support base at opposite sides of and secured to the casing. The load imposed by the casing on the pendulum supports is relieved by a system of vertical adjustable sprung supports extending between the casing and support base, and a pin projecting downwardly from the casing in alignment with a vertical plane through the machine axis is secured to a horizontally positioned flexible membrane which likewise is secured to the support base for securing the casing against movement in any and all directions in a horizontal plane but permitting expansion in a vertical direction. A transverse metallic sheet either slotted or provided with cut-outs is secured between the underside of the casing and support base and accommodates torsion and/or axial expansion of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4002023
Abstract: A stationary power-generating plant of the type which includes a turboset comprising an axial-flow combustion gas turbine, an axial flow combustion air compressor and a driven machine such as an electrical generator which are all coupled together and mounted for rotation about a common axis. The driven machine is located within a hollow chamber surrounded by an intake duct which provides for a flow of combustion air to the compressor and the intake duct is arranged co-axially with the rotational axis of the turboset and is connected to the air inlet end of the compressor by means of a convergent conical annular duct thereby providing axial flow of air to the compressor inlet.
