  • Publication number: 20220083561
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for creating a data object for each of a plurality of imported unstructured data files. Each data object may expressly include one of the unstructured data files. Preprocessing subsystems and/or machine learning algorithms and subsystems process the data to generate or otherwise identify structured insight features. The system updates each data object to expressly include the structured insight features.

  • Patent number: 6836825
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for synchronizing a cache in a computer system through a peer-to-peer refreshing operation. During operation, the system determines the age of an entry in the cache. If the age of the entry exceeds a life span for the entry, the system invalidates the entry in the cache. The system subsequently refreshes the entry by retrieving an updated version of the entry from a peer of the computer system, if possible, instead of from a centralized source for the entry.

  • Publication number: 20040054809
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that coordinates timing of events related to objects within a distributed computing system. During operation, the system receives a request to set a time base associated with an object to a current time value. This request is received through a protocol associated with the object. In response to the request, the system sets the time base associated with the object to the current time value, so that subsequent operations involving the object can be synchronized. In a variation on this embodiment, the object is defined within an object-oriented programming system, and the object is defined to include the time base.

  • Publication number: 20030214936
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that uses Global Positioning System (GPS) signals to synchronize multiple masters on a stationary network. During operation, the system receives the GPS signals at the multiple masters. Next, the system extracts a time value from the GPS signals at each master, and uses the extracted time value to synchronize a local clock at each master. The system subsequently uses the local clock at each master to synchronize interactions between masters.
