  • Patent number: 11269132
Abstract: A display device includes a light source arranged to emit light along a first edge of the display device, and aa light guide plate arranged go receive the emitted light at a minor surface of the light guide plate. The light guide plate includes prismatic elements configured to reemit the light out a first major surface of the light guide plate. A first region of the light guide plate has a first portion of the prismatic elements arranged in a first density to provide a first brightness of the reemitted light reemitted. A second region of the light guide plate has a second portion of the prismatic elements arranged in a second density to provide a second brightness of the reemitted light reemitted. The first region is provided substantially along a first edge of the first major surface, and the second region is provided along a second, a third, and a fourth edge of the first major surface. The first brightness is brighter than the second brightness.

  • Publication number: 20110211070
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for analyzing, managing and cataloguing video tracks generated by a video surveillance system. Systems and methods operating in accordance with the present invention receive video tracks from a video surveillance system; analyze them for particular categories of, for example, objects or events, assign unique identifying tags to the video tracks; and save them in highly-cross-referenced databases so that video tracks containing, for example, particular objects or events can be easily searched for and recalled. In addition, the present invention provides browsing facilities for viewing events that have just elapsed, events that are occurring in near real-time.

  • Publication number: 20080011804
Abstract: The present invention provides a pill splitter that is designed for cutting pills in a relatively safe and reliable manner. The pill splitter includes a main body with a top housing and a bottom housing having a blade mounted thereto. The top housing has a slot defined therein for receipt of the blade. The top housing moves relative to the bottom housing between a protected position, unexposed blade, and a cutting position, exposed blade. In the protected position, the top housing resides in front of the blade to prevent a user from contacting the blade. In the cutting position, the blade is routed through the slot in the top housing thereby exposing a cutting edge thereof for cutting a pill.

  • Publication number: 20040068656
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus utilize a smart card as a key to gain access rights to turn on or wake up a device. To turn on or wake up the device, a user may present a smart card to a reader coupled to the device. The smart card reader provides a signal to the device. Upon receiving the signal, the device may then interface with the smart card to authenticate the user. The device may require the user to provide additional information, such as a password or personal identification number. In addition, the device may access another device, e.g., across a network, to authenticate the user. If the user is authenticated, the device may continue with the turn-on or wake-up sequence. If the user is not authenticated, the device may terminate the turn-on or wake-up sequence. In addition, the device may issue an alarm to report a failed access attempt.

  • Patent number: 6170027
Abstract: A LPC/ISA bridge and its bridging method are disclosed for bridging an LPC interface to an ISA interface. The LPC/ISA bridge is activated in response to a duty cycle indicative signal (LFRAME#), and serially transforms related command, address and data information from command/address/data lines (LAD[3:0]) of the LPC interface into address, data and control signals of the ISA interface. Therefore, the problem as to the interface incompatibility is solved.
