  • Patent number: 4032242
Abstract: A corner joint brace for furniture members and the like having a body including a pair of rearwardly extending, oppositely inclined, angularly related, side portions having front surfaces for being positioned adjacent inside surfaces of angularly related, corner joint members. The corner joint brace is characterized by at least a partial flexible construction of the side portions for use in bracing a variety of angled corner joint members of the same or different angular relations, while providing the desired structural strength to the brace for the bracing function thereof.

  • Patent number: 4012155
Abstract: A snap lock connector for use in selectively connecting and disconnecting components, such as knock-down furniture components, and being characterized by a construction which provides locking with less force than unlocking, as follows. An elongate male member forms an extension from one of the components to be assembled and has a generally bulbous outer end defining leading and trailing camming surfaces thereon. A female member forms an internal passageway within the other of the components to be assembled and has an inwardly extending projection around at least a portion of the interior thereof defining leading and trailing camming surfaces. One of the male and female members is constructed for rendering that member flexible for expansion and contraction thereof during sliding engagement of the cooperating camming surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3992853
Abstract: A spring clip for being secured to framework rails of an item of furniture and the like for receiving and holding opposite end portions of conventional, zig-zag, spring strips suspended between the rails and being characterized by a self-locking construction, as follows. A fastening portion defines a generally elongate surface for being secured to the rail. A spring receiving portion is of flexible, resilient material and a generally C-shaped, cross-sectional configuration defining an interior opening therein and a passageway therethrough for insertion of the end portion of the spring strip.

  • Patent number: 3966340
Abstract: A twist lock connector for use in connecting and disconnecting components, such as knock-down furniture components, and being characterized by a construction which provides easy selective progressive friction locking and unlocking thereof to a selected degree by opposite relative right-hand or left-hand rotation of a correlated amount.

  • Patent number: 3954345
Abstract: A self-locking dowel pin, suitable for use in assembling abutting furniture components, including a central portion and end portions of flexible material extending longitudinally outwardly from the central portion and being of initially transversely inwardly tapering configurations to provide reducing cross-sectional dimensions outwardly along the length thereof. The end portions each have a generally V-shaped cut out therein extending longitudinally inwardly from the end thereof for splitting of the end portions. A wedge-shaped expansion member is associated with each of the end portions and is of larger cross-sectional dimensions than the cut outs for being forced into and for expanding the end portions of flexible material to generally non-tapering configurations. Flange means extend generally transversely outwardly from outside surfaces of said end portions.

  • Patent number: 3942904
Abstract: A universal brace for use in bracing a wide variety of members, such as corner joints of furniture and the like, and being characterized by a versatile and adjustable construction, as follows. A body member of two telescoping sections is provided. Rows of transversely extending apertures are formed through each of the sections for providing access passageways through each of the sections disposed at approximately 90.degree. with respect to each other and are positioned for respective alignment of said apertures and said passageways of the sections by adjusting the relative telescopic positions of the sections. A body locking pin is removably inserted through any desired set of aligned apertures and passageways for locking the sections of the body member in desired adjusted length. Devices are provided on the ends of each of the sections of the body member for contacting the members to be braced.
