  • Patent number: 11671953
Abstract: A media rendering device and method for scan of channels on the media rendering device is provided. The media rendering device determines a first geographical region associated with a location of the media rendering device. A first set of over-the-air (OTA) channels may be communicated in the first geographical region. The media rendering device determines a second geographical region within a threshold distance from the location of the media rendering device. A second set of OTA channels may be communicated in the second geographical region. The media rendering device receives a first user input to scan the first set of OTA channels and the second set of OTA channels, and configures the first set of OTA channels and the second set of OTA channels on the media rendering device, based on the scan of the first set of OTA channels and the second set of OTA channels.

  • Patent number: 9762586
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for controlling mutual access of smart devices. The method includes creating a home account on a cloud server, and adding smart devices and device information corresponding to the smart devices to a device list under the home account; acquiring, for each of the smart devices, authentication by using the home account and device information corresponding to the smart device; and establishing, for each of the smart devices, a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) long connection to the cloud server. In the present invention, a unique home account is created on a cloud server, so that smart devices log in to the cloud server by using the unified home account, and the smart devices under the unified home account allow mutual access when being authorized. Therefore, when smart devices in a home access each other, the workload is greatly reduced.

  • Patent number: 8982283
Abstract: A method of scanning television channels at initial setup. The method includes at a first power mode, automatically scanning for channels using a first scanning setup procedure during which the television is unusable by a user. The first power mode is when the television is at a full power mode. The detected channels are automatically provided for use by the television upon completion of the first scanning setup procedure. The method further includes automatically scanning for channels using a second scanning setup procedure at a second power mode following the first power mode. The second power mode is at a lower power mode than the first power mode, and the second scanning setup procedure is more time consuming in comparison to the first scanning setup procedure. Additional channels not detected during the initial setup by the first scanning setup procedure are automatically detected at the second power mode.

  • Patent number: 8930981
Abstract: In one embodiment, a television configuration technique includes determining a location, from a web service, of a television set using an internet protocol address of the television set or a zip code corresponding to a physical location of the television. Electronic programming guide, interactive programming guide or the like data for a plurality of service providers in the determined location are downloaded. The electronic programming guide data, interactive programming guide data or the like for one or more channels that are unique between the plurality of service providers are checked against transmitting station identifier data or system information protocol data to identify the specific service provider that the television set is connected to. A channel list for the specific service provider is then determined from the electronic programming guide or interactive programming guide corresponding to the specific service provider.

  • Publication number: 20100057405
Abstract: A computer controlled system of capturing and replaying test information. The system may comprise a device under test (DUT), e.g., a television set, a recording device, e.g., a camera, a memory component and a processor. The DUT receives test signals and responsive thereto generates a plurality of output responses. The recording device captures renderable output responses, e.g., image, audio, etc., of the plurality of output responses. The memory component stores the plurality of output responses. Non-renderable output responses are captured and stored in memory. Storing the responses may be responsive to a triggering event, e.g., detection of a new device. The processor may analyze data by correlating testing signals, renderable output responses and non-renderable output responses. The plurality of testing signals may be provided from a pre-programmed test script via a remote control. The plurality of testing signals and the plurality of output responses may be time coded and tagged.

  • Patent number: 6646673
Abstract: The invention relates to a communication method and a terminal (500) for use with such a method. The method uses at least two interconnected terminals (402, 404), at which input data from associated participants is captured. The input data comprises at least video and/or audio data. A monitoring unit (530) derives activity information about the participants from the input data. The monitoring unit (530) is either located in one terminal (402) for centrally deriving the activity information, or present in all terminals (402, 404) for, at least partly, deriving the activity information locally. The activity information is subsequently visualized in the form of tables and/or diagrams or by manipulating the windows in which the participants are displayed. Also this visualization step can be performed only at a central terminal (402) or at the terminal of each participant (402, 404). The activity information comprises for instance talking time and a number of key strokes of the participant.
