  • Publication number: 20110068517
Abstract: An article produced using, among other techniques, free-form fabrication having a binder matrix and particles can be supported during a temperature processing, such as burn-out of the binder matrix, with a support composition to maintain geometry and/or alleviate changes in geometry of the article. The support composition can take a variety of forms such as foams, two phase materials, plastic powders, carbon powders, etc. The support material is sacrificed during the thermal processing, such as through decomposition. Such a decomposition can occur when the support composition evolves into a carbonaceous structure. The support composition can also oxidize to a gas, melt, or vaporize, among other types of sacrificial action.

  • Publication number: 20110069819
Abstract: The invention provides a device for a computer tomography gantry (91) for transmitting data, wherein the gantry comprises a stationary part (92) and a rotary part (93). The device is adapted to transmit the data between the stationary part of the gantry (92) and the rotary part (93) of the gantry (91). The device comprises a hollow conductor (104, 204, 308) which is adapted to guide a first wave, a sender (102, 103) which is adapted to send the first wave inside the hollow conductor and a receiver (106) which is adapted to receive the first wave after a runtime inside the hollow conductor (104, 204, 308). A further aspect of the invention is a computer tomography gantry (91) comprising a device according to the inventive concept. Using the described device allows to transmit data between the rotary (93) and the stationary part (92), to measure a rotating speed of the rotary part (93) and to measure a position of the rotary part (93) with respect to the stationary part (92).

  • Patent number: 7912973
Abstract: A mechanism for negotiating a relatively transport agnostic communication protocol for use in accomplishing a distributed activity. The potential protocols subject to negotiation may be, for example, extensions to Web Services Coordination. In that case, when the initiator creates a transaction, the initiator also negotiates the desired protocol with its transaction manager. The transaction manager and any other participants in the transaction will then follow that negotiated protocol when communicating with the transaction manager. The protocol may be selected to improve performance and may be tailored to existing needs and capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20110062949
Abstract: A sensor is disclosed for monitoring a part which can move translationally relative to a sensor with reference to its position on the axis of motion. This part is for example a piston in a cylinder which is equipped with a sensor. The sensor can be actuated by means of a magnet which is oriented in the direction of motion with respect to the north and south pole and which is located on the movable part. The sensor has three reed contacts which are aligned in parallel and of which the first and the second reed contact are located in one plane and parallel next to one another with their lengthwise axes, by which they can be actuated almost at the same time by the magnetic field of the magnet which is located on the movable part. The third reed contact is located at a distance to the plane of the first and the second reed contact. This sensor with the first two reed contacts is mounted facing the actuating magnet.

  • Publication number: 20110066676
Abstract: In one embodiment web page response time is improved by requesting multiple resources in a batch request, receiving said resources in a batch response, and disjoining the resources and corresponding HTTP headers before caching on the client. The resources are retrieved by web browser from the cache separately without loss of cache granularity. Client parses base page to determine the embedded resources and includes in the batch requests only web addresses those resources that are uncached or may be expired. To reduce required bandwidth, server validates caching information of every resource before sending the batch response. In another embodiment web application performance for mobile users is improved by combining individually requested resources into the batch response on a network node positioned on a link between cellular network and the Internet.
