Abstract: A device for the automated identification of a pig that is ready for onward transfer includes a detection unit for the determination of a weight statement of at least one pig, a database with pig-related data, wherein the pig-related data includes statements concerning at least one determined, or determinable, pig, and an evaluation unit configured to generate an onward transfer indicator. The evaluation unit is configured for data exchange with the detection unit and with the database, such that the evaluation unit generates the onward transfer indicator as a function of the determined weight value and as a function of the pig-related data, so as automatically to identify the pig with the onward transfer indicator as being ready for onward transfer.
