    Abstract: A base recovery device and a gun equipped with such a device includes a structure extendable between a non-spread out state and a spread out state and having a base-receiving opening delimited by first and second arms parallel to each other, at least one lever which pivots and supports the second arm, and a mechanism for moving the lever. The mechanism includes an actuating member, a drive assembly and a clutch assembly arranged such that at least one lever is automatically moved to an unfolded position, in which the structure is in the spread out state, when the breechblock is moved from closed position to open position during the gun recovery stroke, and such that at least one lever is automatically moved to a folded up position, in which the structure is in the non-spread out state, before the end of the recovery stroke and independently of the breechblock movement.
