  • Patent number: 7853970
Abstract: As television programs increases, it becomes necessary to find means for rapidly accessing the users' preferred programs. Furthermore, television programs are addressed to different types of users such as children and adults. The proposed system processes a program grid comprising at a higher level the whole information on programs and at a lower level, information specific to a users group as well as parameters defining a user profile. The parameters are divided into several sets of parameters, each set corresponding to a filter layer allowing selecting a category or categories of required information. The first layer, defining a global restrictive filter, is defined by an administrator of the system and the following layers, defining a filter specific to a users group and containing filtering short commands, are defined by at least one member of the users group.

  • Publication number: 20070244819
Abstract: This invention concerns a decoder for processing Pay-TV data. This decoder is associated to a security module by means of identification data and includes means for deactivating the processing of the Pay-TV data. Furthermore, it includes a counter that acts on the deactivation means according to the content of this counter. The invention also concerns a Pay-TV data management system including at least two decoders like those defined above, this system being characterized in that at least one of the security modules is declared master and includes means for reinitializing said decoder counters. The invention furthermore concerns a management process for at least two decoders for processing Pay-TV data, said decoders being associated to a subscriber and including means for deactivating the processing of Pay-TV data and a counter that acts on said deactivation means. Each subscriber also disposes of at least two security modules that can be locally connected to a decoder.
